Heated oxygen sensor

Hey guys, didnt see a thread like this so....

Getting a new error, I forgot to get the code number but it has the following description:

Heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 2.

when driving my 2g gsx, randomly the car will bog down really badly. I have a narrowband in there along with a boost gauge. When it bogs down the light to the boost gauge shuts off and the a/f ratio skies to 18. I know its just a narrowband and isn't all that accurate but still, that cant be good .

So, I am figuring it must be some kind of electrical issue since the light on the boost gauge goes off. Also, it must be affecting the o2 sensor since a bad electrical signal would throw off my a/f ratio and make me bog.

I am just wondering where I should start looking. Any ideas? Fuse? A bad connection somewhere?

Your throwing a code for an o2 sensor, that means your o2 sensor is bad.

Replace the sensor and say bye to your bogging.

Then replace narrowband with real wideband.

Just noticed, are you sure it was bank 1 sensor 2? Not bank 1 sensor 1?

Bank 1 sensor 2 is the o2 sensor after the cat.

Yeah it was sensor two, which is what I don't get.

Also, why would the boost gauge light go out if it were just an o2 sensor issue?

I am thinking that it could be a short somewhere. Ill go check the ECU connection to my boost gauge and see if there is a wiring issue.

Your ECU is not and never will be connected to the boost gauge. You more than likely have a bad connection somewhere in the wiring for your gauges. Where are they drawing power from? How did you make the connections? Are the wires crimped? Are they twisted, soldered, and wire-nutted? Twisted and taped? I would say start there.

I am drawing power from under the console, the cig lighter. Also, my connections and twisted and taped, but I did a really really good job on it. One of the wires was coming a little loose so I redid that connection and made it as solid as the rest.

Also, what fuses would the ecu, o2, and console lights be under? I can't seem to find them.

On a side note, get rid of that narrow gauge o2 and get a real wideband! Much more accurate and a necessity for tuning boost.

Well yeah I know, I am getting a wideband in spring when I upgrade to a 16g and 660cc injectors.

Anyway, some wires were shorting each other out and I fixed them. Thanks guys
