To check valve seats, they make a blue compound that you put a small dab of on the valve seat and rotate in the guide. If you see that the blue doesnt show all around the seat then the valve is bad and isnt sealing properly. The name of the blue compound escapes me right now but its avaliable at anyplace that sells extensive rebuilding supplies.

The blue stuff is Prussian blue, it normally comes in a small tube. Don't get any on your skin, it'll leave a stain you can't get off very easily.

If it's got bent valves more than likely it has some damaged valve guides as well. Mine split like toulips (sp) when the stems bent inside them. Look close. If you do punch in new guides you will have to have the valve seats reground to make shure everything fits properly. :thumb:

if there are bent valves and seats is it even worth fixing moeny wise since you can get good shape ones off DSMtrader?? I ask this becuase i have 3 heads laying around that have bent valves and guides and seats. a machine shop said to go back with stock parts would be like 450$ but i got a used head for 125$ shipped. if there is a way or place to get them done cheap let me know i have some paper weights i might be able to salvage
