Head Bolt Washers

OK here's the question...

After installing my rebuilt engine into my car (1G) I then realized I installed the head bolts without the washers. The question is since the engine has not been started can i replace the washers by removing the head bolts one at a time, It is a MLS gasket... Thanks!!!

I dont see where that would be a problem.

Yes, That will be fine, just start in the center and work your way out just like when you torqued the head down.

Are they head studs or bolts? If they are studs, you wont be able to get all the washers on.. Some of them wont clear the valve springs, you have to install the washers befor you slide the head down the studs..

Talking about the washers. I know when I did my ARP studs with the head completely down, I couldn't get some of the nuts on cause of the valve spring in the way.

That's if your dealing with ARP studs.

Never had a problem with the nuts, just the washers..
