I am in need of a tap to clean the threads of a head bolt hole in the block. I've gone through other posts, I've seen that it's an 11x1.25 bolt and so on. I can't find a tap anywhere for this size. I've gone on Snap-On's website too, and they don't have that size. I'm thinking about calling machine shops to see if I can find one, but if I can't, where else can I find one?

This is for a 2g 7 bolt block.

Do not use a tap there. You are cutting metal away, weakening the area where the bolt/stud sits. That is not good. Use a thread chaser as mentioned before.

The ARP chaser:

or same product for cheaper:

or if you don't feel like shelling out for that then take an old head bolt or other m11x1.25x97mm bolt and cut 3 vertical slits in it with a die grinder and there you go you just saved $50!!

I ordered the ARP chaser last night and should have it in a week. Might have to try the idea with cutting the factory bolt. Really didn't think that would work. Figured the bolt material was softer than a chaser.

Which is fine, you're not cutting metal, you're just cleaning out the gunk in the hole. I've always used old bolts, even to remove red loctite. Works everytime. I think Dale on here even recommends that method.
