I have looked at other threads but couldn't find a good answer. Whar are the the torque specs for a 98 gsx with oem head bolts. I already know the sequence but not the torque. The chilton book says to tighten it to 57 lbs and then loosen them all again and then tighten them to 15 lbs and then a 180 degree turn on each bolt...this seems weird but is it right?

close.

1- 57lbs all bolts
2- loosen all bolts
3- 15lbs all bolts
4- 90* all bolts
5- 90* all bolts

The bolts are stretch to yield so reusing is not recommended. I've done it, but those were stock cars at 8psi. For anything that's going to be abused or modded- get arp headstuds.
