Hazzards of road racing

The driver was fine, the car was not salvageable as the impact bent the tower pretty bad, he has a spare one so he will use whatever he can out this one.

The car in front of him lost it and he could not avoided it, it happen coming of the back straight going into the infield there is a small S and that is where he lost it.

What is the point of this thread, and what does it have to do with DSMs and a road course?

The argument could be made that DSMs and the wrecked examples pictured above are all cars. A DSM can quickly look like one of those pictures, if it were to drive on a road course and wreck.
Besides, Arrowhead is older than most of us and more experienced. Pretty much everything he has to say is interesting.

Blah, a cakewalk compared to hillclimbing or rally racing.

Well a lot of things are posted in the forum that do not have to do with a DSM.
This particular car and no one has mentioned it, has no rollcage or a roll bar, maybe I am trying to point out that there are hazards in any kind of racing, even if this was only a private club doing a track day.

Since I now own a DSM which is going to be a dedicated road racing car, I hope, I think it is all related.

Been around racing very long time and dont like to see anyone get hurt or their equipment damage, be it roller skating, bikes, motorcycles, drag cars, boat racing, go karts, or road racing.

Go fast and stay safe

Very true.

Race cars are meant to be raced, and crashes do occur in racing.

After examining the pictures, it does not look like those tires started life as slicks. They look like normal street tires with the tread worn off, combined with wet conditions... not his fault... then who's was it?

I am not sure which tires he had on at the time, but for road racing we have rain tires and dry tires or slicks. What a lot of guys use in the smaller cars for rain tires are street tires.
Remember in road racing we race whether the track is wet or dry the decision on which tire to use is the drivers and his crew.

There are very few at fault in racing, in the case of the red car, another car lost it and ran into him.

You are going to get hit or hit someone at some time in any type of racing.

Was this an scca event? I don't see any class markings on the S2000. Just looks like a track day car. I am very surprised that there is no roll cage in it also as SCCA requires a cage in all competition cars.

Rally!

Watch as stunned spectators rush to the aid of these drivers who are submerged upside down underwater.

Just kidding they check to see if their vids saved.

In this digital age people are forgetting that there are actually people on the other side of the screens that they are recording on... This is why I don't record much of anything at all. Watching something on a screen when it is happening right in front of you for the sake of recording is absolutely ridiculous...

Go to a children's play at a school or something and the entire audience is hidden behind tablets and phones trying to record...
