Victoria,
I need to find the part number for front wheel bearing/hub assembly for my '97 TSi AWD so I downloaded Mitsubishi CAPS and I'm having a bit of trouble understanding it...

when I bring up the window for the wheel bearing I get this:

9401.1 to 9901.2____________________ MR103664
__________________________________ MR455004

9901.3 to 9903.3 ____________________MR455004

9904.1 to 9904.3 ____________________MR403970

so I have a couple questions, first off the numbers on the left, I assume they are dates as in 1994 first 1/3 of January to 1999 2/3 of January (first 2 numbers)

If this is true then that's me.. I'm a 97 but which of those 2 part numbers do I want? how do you tell that?

Thanks for the help.

The two part numbers that show up for 9401.1 to 9901.2 are the original part number and the replacement part number. In caps, if you were to select that year range, the column title would show Part No and Repl P/No under it with two part numbers in that column. You want the replacement part number since this means the part has been superceded at some point wtih the newer part number (MR455004 in this case).

As for the other numbers 9401.1, if I remember correctly, it's the year (94) month (01 = January) and week (.1 is the first week). I could be wrong on the month and week part.

Typically some facet of the part will be different whether it be an improvement, a way of cutting costs, or something along those lines. Whatever the reason, the new part is still 100% compatible.

I'm asking because the the rear knuckles on 95-96 are different than those on 97-99 and I want to know if the parts in the junk yard are the same as the replacement parts. I was hoping to use CAPS to find this out and to see if all models have the same parts within a given model year.

Excluding the ABS models, the 2G rear knuckles for the FWD are the same part number for a given model year. The part numbers are different between the 2Ga and 2Gb, as you mentioned. In that case, compatibility cannot always be assumed.

Still off topic but added info so :thumb:. I'm running 2ga knuckles, evo 8 wheels, 235 45 17 tires, awd, and decent clearance roughly 1/4".
