--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just noticed that my rear passenger tire has a small amount of movement. This was brought to my attention by the soft "thunking" noise as I drive over small bumps.
After I inspected where the heck that noise is coming from or what is causing it.. I'm suspecting it is the RR wheel bearing. If I hold the top and bottom tire, I am able to rock the tire/rim in and out. Somewhat altering the camber position +/- although there is no play to alter the toe position. I also took off the tire and checked the hub itself and surely it looks like something inside is off spec/tolerance.
I have never changed a wheel bearing on a DSM before. My manual isnt very clear as far as installation and removal on the bearing. I have also read on the net that an entire NEW rear hub is needed along with new bearings. I hardly belive that being true, but I don't know since this is my first dsm.
I just wanted to know if anyone here has ever changed out their wheel bearings. Prefereable the RR bearings. What should I expect and can't I just tap out the old bearings and install new ones? Or is this a machine shop type deal where a press is needed?
