I'm in the shop right now trying to figure out how to replace my rear wheel bearing assembly. I read the how to and I'm confused on the push the axle through the back side. Is there anything I have to loosen on the back side of the assemble for the axle to move. Where does the axle go. I mean it does move the only place it could go is into the rear diff right. I need help fast. Thanks

Anyone? I'm trying to get this done and need answers. Thanks

It's VERY tough to remove a rear axle with the knuckle firmly in place. Even if you could do it, you probably wouldn't want to (you'd be forced to angle the joints at outrageous angles or bash on things that shouldn't be bashed on). You're best off loosening up the rear knuckle at some of its attachment points. You don't have to remove it completely, just remove enough of the attachment point fasteners to allow the knuckle to move enough to give you some swing room for the axle.

Try unbolting knuckle from upper control arm and shock to see if you can swing it out far enough. If not enough, may have to, god forbid, unbolt lower toe control arms and stabilizer link too (maybe even trailing arm).
