I'm currently having a 420a rebuilt with forged internals. My friend is telling me to run high compression with low boost levels to keep me from using a new data logger and ecu/cpu. Will i get the same amount of hp if i ran lets say 16psi if i ran high compression with approx. 7psi???

Either way, your going to have to run some type of ecu to handle the boost. Boost needs a different fuel map and a bunch of other things to know its going to get more air than usual. Run a 8.3:1 or 8.5:1 comp pistons and a standalone ecu. Or swap it for the gst/x ecu.

I'm going to run forged internals, I.E. pistons, rods, cams. I can just pick up a gst ECU and run that and have it reprogrammed when its dyno tuned to have it set up right?

Its not as simple as that. If you want to run big numbers, you want dsmlink and a gst eprom ecu. If you just want a good street car and decent track car, get a SAFC to tune with. With the SAFC, you'll still need a gst/x ecu. Or the last thing to do, is get a standalone with takes place of the ecu and you program that with what you want. And a bunch of other stuff you'll need to make this properly run. Read about tuning the 420A motor for turbos in the tuning section of 420A. Its pretty intense stuff. Not something that you just throw together and wow, it works like 2g turbo cars.

I guess so. Would it be easier just to run a N/A car but still have a lot of power? because im getting a turbo for free with this car its a stage 2 16g turbo i believe. with all the parts required to install it...

Im not sure how you'll mount that turbo since you would need a custom exhuast manifold to make it work. The 2g turbo cars exhaust runs to the right and intake to the left. The turbo would be backwards making it useless in your car. Or at least thats that i think?
