HELP I'm having Engine Problems

Ill tell the story of what happened. So I was driving to my friends and on the highway going about 65-70 and then my car started to run a little rough, then it went away. After like 2 minutes I stopped at a stop light and took off, first gear good , second fine and then third I released the clutch and it started to bog down and run really rough and over that i heard this random fast ticking noise which only lasted for like 4 seconds . So I got it to his house and let it set for like 5 hours so it was cooled down and I drove it home with out any hard driving (staying as low as RPMS that I could) and it ran fine, but a block from my house i decided to use a little boost and took it up to like 4000 rpms and i thought that i did not hear my bov. So I tried it again and no bov sound at all. So what do u guys think? Is my turbo going bad? I need all the help i can get.

I'm on the same boat, I can't hear my BOV anymore either.

Anyway, it's time for you to do a routine maintenance check. check plug/wires/turbo/vac lines/boost leaks/ compression

so on and so forth. This will be the beginning of your work. Once you determine the problem, then go fix it . and if you decide to be cooler than me and fix your problem first, please PM me or reply back in this thread so that maybe I can diagnose my problem too.

btw, your BOV may lost it's "noise", but vent it for a second.. rev the motor and see if the BOV is release air. I thought my BOV was dead but it turns out it lets out A LOT of air, just doesn't make a sound doing it.

it could be a lot of things. Check your MAF plug to make sure it doesnt have bent pins or is just loose, check your injectors to make sure the plugs on them are tight. you didnt just wash your engine did you? bad cas? and as much as i dont want to bring this up, you arent venting improperly are you?

Ill try all of that when i get home tonight. I don't know about the venting of the bov, I have not touched the bov since i bought the car (1 1/2 years). the BOV is just plain old stock. Another problem that I am having is in higher RPMS it would fall right on its face and sputter when I'm driving it hard. If i was just cruising and taking it slow and go in to the higher RPMS it would be just fine. That was another problem i was having. I don't know what to do on that too. Any help would be very nice.

What is sounds like is you have a boost leak or a bad BOV.

As to the 4k problem. When is the last time you did a tune up? Fooled plugs or clogged injectors are most likely your problem there.

When you tried to boost did you hear any unusual noise coming from the turbo?
Do you have a CEL?

Here is what you need to do.
1: Boost leak test. Check the vfaq on how to make a tester.
2: Check your plugs and wires. Check for NON-PLATINUM plugs. Dont use platinum plugs.
Check and make sure your plugs aren't fooled.
3: Check the connections on your MAF

i drove it today and i could hear the bov but When i was driving to work today my turbo was louder than it usually is. and it still bogs down a little bit when I'm going up hills

I checked the spark plugs and the wires their good. The pins on the MAF and they were all strait. I pressed on the connectors on the fuel injectors and they were all connected. That is all i have had time to check it out.
