Having a hell of a time finding 98-99 gst ecu

I'm in need of a flashable ecu for a 99-98 fwd turbo dsm. I've checked my local picknpull, and have been searching ebay and just google in general for said ecu. nut no luck... I've
already purchased the tactrix cable but when I tried to connect to my ecu but it wouldn't work. so i pulled my ecu and found that my car(even though it's a 98) had the 95-97 ecu installed. Pissed me off a bit, but as with all used cars, things happen.
So if anyone has any ideas where I might be able to find a non bricked ecu, please chime in. I'm even concidering an evo8 ecu at this point since I've had more luck finding one of those. But I'd really rather not deal with all that if I can just find a gst ecu.

Go with what Nick90 says trust me i speak from experience i had (2) one 98 and one 99 both were the black plastic with MD#'s that could be flashed and the performance shops around me couldn't write to them. Alot of people on ebay sell you the black plastic ecu's stating they could be flashed only because they've read that online somewhere but some can't be flashed. It's better to do it right the first time then to pile up non flashable ecu's. DSMCHIPS.COM sells it at a perfect price with the ecu flashed with the information you want. Look it up you won't regret it. Buy from them and keep your cable just incase you ever upgrade. That's just my 2 cents. Hope it helps

thanks alot guys. I forgot about the classifieds on here. I'll check it out. I just went to dsmchips.com and the site seemed up and running. So the $250 ecu on there can be reflashed with my cable and software later on down the road right? main reason I'm needing it flashed is so I quit getting the p0300 code from my engine swap.

If all else fails you could always have a 97 ecu converted by ecmlink...

Edit: Wait, would it be flashable then? They add an eprom onto it...

All you have to do is get the sellers (eBay and on here) to open the cases up and tell you the PCB code. It's printed right on the board. Only 2 versions are flashable.
