I'm having a hell of a time removing my half shafts!!

I usually just make the hub assembly able to move enough to get the outside end of the axle out of the hub, then hop underneath with a big screwdriver and pry till it pops out. Works everytime. Occasionally I have to tap the screwdriver with a hammer to give it some force.

A little bit confused. Are you trying to take it off the hub or out of the tranny. This is what I used as directions when I was taking mine off.

I did not take the whole hub assembly off, like shown here. I did not take the bolts off of the strut, from where it shows in picture 3, so from what I saw in your pictures I believe you took everything off that I did to get it off. If you are trying to get it out of the tranny do as SOMDTURBO stated and use a screwdriver to pry it out. It is a small retaining clip on there, just take your time and pry it off. When you get it off you will relize how small a clip it is, and wonder how that little thing can hold that in there. The clip I am refering to is the one circled in picture 5. If you look at picture 12, you can get an idea of what Im talking about, but that is just a picture of what is inside the CV boot. Good luck.

I guess I did sorta leave out what I was up to.

I'm pulling the block and trans for a rebuild. I'm having all the trouble pushing the control arm down to release the hub. It seems to be stuck in there good.

From your link (I think that'll get'er done), It looks like they have you unbolt the strut and/or lower arm to remove the half shaft. Maybe some setups are to stuck to be done with only the lower control arm detached??

Its my first time. I've had the head off once or twice, done the timing belt and water pump before, but this is my first time going this far into the engine's lower half. Theres a lot of stuff to remove and unplug.

The way I see it, its the only real way to under stand your motor and get a sense of the condition of your car. No better way to learn than to jump in the deep end??

It works for me...

Thanks, Sean.
