ok so like the tittle says i have a few questions about what i sould do with my car. the car has dropped 2 cylinders and the turbo has shaft play so bad that its scrapping the walls of the turbo ( dont worry i stopped driving the car after i first herd the noise, and no peices of the turbo have broke off... yet ). i thought the car needed a front main seal and also found out the guy tried to put in a BSEK but it came out so the car pissed oil out of the hole for a while, so i put a new one in properly. so i bassically bought a new timing belt ( mitsu ) and felpro gaskets for nothing.

now for the questions

1. will a ebay 16G last as long as i dont ratbad my car? i have herd some cases of them being rather good.

2. if not who sells a good 16G turbo for cheap

3. also found on ebay is a set of Nippon racing performance pistons for like $90 with rings. have any of you guys run these. i know they are cheapo's and not as good or sstrong as wiseco but im in a money bind at the moment.

4. is it true that a punishment racing FMIC wont fit on a 1G with a automatic trans??? if so im screwed LOL

thanks for the help guys

1. I know a guy who ran a 13.8 on one in pueblo, and as far as i know its still okay, but I wouldn't buy one. Some resolvable issues with the WG arm, you can search and there are massive posts on the ebay 16g here on this site I'd make my decision based on those details.

2. I only know where to get one for a good price locally, sorry man I'm still too much of a newb to tell you who has the best price online.

3. Too much of a newb.

4. Too much of a newb.

But welcome!

I haven't heard of nippon pistons, but if you're going for a budget rebuild go with topline pistons, I got mine for 160 with rings and wrist pins. And they are a stock replacement.

Good price on a 16g, I'd say check forums for sale threads, you'll find a good deal every oce in a while but don't expect dirt cheap, it wont happen.

Ebay is hit and miss. You might get one that runs fine for thousands of miles with you beating on it the whole way, or you might get you that craps out after 100 miles of hardly even boosting. I would look through the vendor section and compare prices, because some even may offer special offers to dsmtuners members. Another great place to try would be the classifieds here on the site. There are tons of them that come up in ads. Probably expect a little more than 500 new, depending on if there is a special running. If you buy one off classifieds, be sure to buy from someone reputable and make sure you ask about shaft play.

I would personally not cheap out on pistons, and would hit up some vendors for pistons. They almost always have some sort of piston/rod deal going on, and to me, the extra money for pistons would be well worth it.

Haven't personally heard of that FMIC problem, but I'm pretty sure there is a thread here started on punishment racing fmic's that has a lot of replies. Also, there are a lot of punishment fmic reviews on here in general, so I'm sure you can find your answer to that question with a quick search.

If you want to risk it with an eBay 16g...that's your call. But I wouldn't bring those cheap Chinese parts anywhere near my car (same goes for the "JoeBlow" pistons)

Rule of thumb...if the price seems too good to be true...it is. And you'll be spending twice that in a few months when it blows up.

Contact Jusmx141 here on Tuners. I know for a fact he has some 16g's to sell. :)

a set of Nippon racing performance pistons for like $90 with rings.

Rigghhhtttttt ;)

If you go cheap on the turbo, at least it's fairly easy to replace. Go cheap on the pistons and you'll be back into the motor in no time.

I heard something the other day... "Why is it that there is never enough time or money to do it right the first time, but there's always enough time and money to redo it?" I'm not sure where I heard/read that, but if there was ever a case for it to be true...I think it's yours. :)

BTW - Might want to work on the caps and spelling a bit before you get flamed.

Good luck!

Ya sorry about the spelling I never have been good at that LOL. I just have like $650 at the moment and need my car to run and i need to do it the chaepest way possible, but still have it able to preform when i need it to.

I've read here in the forums that nippon racing were the manufactures of the OE pistons for our dsms. Can someone verify if it's true?

thanks for all the replys. i also need to know how to break in a motor properly... i know i had a post on this already but i cant seem to find it and i even used the search button so im not trying to make you guys mad but i seriously just cant find it
