i was about to race a friend in a 5.0 at a stoplight and my girlfriend didn't know. I droped it at just over 4 grand. i looked over just in time to see her head hit the headrest like a big hear-ball. she was still holding her head and woldn't talk at the end of the race. funniest thing EVER.

Why would you dump the car at 6500 Seriously?

guess you missed the part where I said "I was nervous didnt mean too" meant to slip it :|

It was also my first time I had launched the gsx.
I have hard launched my talon maybe 5 times in the 5 years I've owned it.
Cars on jackstands cause its gettin new t'belt, clutch assembly, 4 bolt rear, welded center diff, and dsmlink.

Whenever I can nailed my low 1.7 thats about where I'm launching it. Maybe a little less but not much. I really need to get my ECU socketed so that I can get my DSMlink put in and run the studderbox but I just have not had time. I don't know if the type of clutch used makes a difference or not because I've never had to use a 2100 or higher pressure plate. Mine uses the stock pressure plate with a feramic (not ceramic) disk. Works real well. Also though we have a Speed Design 4-spider to back up the shock to the diff.

somehow i don't believe that.. well i'll believe the front wheels off the ground thing if it was on some retreads or street slicks.. but here we got guys putting down 600 and not picking up the front, so....

but honestly, AWD doesn't launch that hard... it hooks on the street, but at the track, a v8 on good tire will outlaunch an AWD all night long with room to spare, slick on a v8 will even outlaunch AWD on the street if the road is clean

The car is running fulcan azenis tires puling low 1.5 60's trapping in the low 130s. I am not talking about carring the wheels but picking them up a inch on the launch. Best pass as far as et goes out of the car is 11.0@132 , car is #42 on the times list and that time was with a horrible 1.65 60'. The car is on stock suspension except chains now in the front attaching the lower control arms to the upper strut towers. It keeps the car from being able to pull the front end up so easily. Its a old drag racing trick, a lot of guys who have been around muscle cars thier whole life know what I am speaking of. As far as weather or not you believe me I could care less. Its what happens and I have no reason to fabricate it or no desire to argue the point.

when I launch my 90 tsi Fwd I can get the windsheild wipers goin it pisses me off LOL, not from wheel hop from torque

once i had the wipers turn on from a 5k launch, then shifted into second really hard turning them back on again while racing some 90 gst. my gf just kept laughin.

While you're doing that me and Khalid run trains on your girl, your mom, and your dog.

1.7 is f*cking weak dude. I pull 1.1s all day with my GT42 and chained up suspension YO :thumbdown

I run a 2.2 60', I have a 50 trim and I dont know what im doing.

p.s. I get the dog first!

The hardest launch I ever got was at the strip. It only ended up being a 2.1 60', but I spun all the way through first :thumb: :D

Wheel hop so bad it turned on my wipers - so like an idiot insted of flipping them off I kinda pulled on the lever also so it turned on the squrters - DUH.
All that and trying to shift - Doesnt go together to well. OMG

*laugh*
Been there done that with plenty of stock launches, a couple of times mistaking the indicators for the windshiled wiper lever, now THATS a scene, smoke, wipers going and a blinker telling them i'm gonna fishtail

i don't mean to bring back a really old thread but i just had to share this cuz i was so excited...

so last night i was testing out different launch technique and seeing at which rpm's i get the best launch with. i decided to take it up to about 6,500rpm (my turbo spools up slowly and late cuz of my lower compression) and OMG!! hardest launch i have ever felt and it was really nice. 4 wheels spun for a little bit, wipers came on and abs light came on. i'm pretty sure it was a 1.5 60" or better, just wish i could tell for sure... my friend got it on tape so i'll try to get it on here...

once again, gotta love awd, there's nothing like it :thumb:

well since this was brought back ill throw one in. it wasnt in an AWD but it was in a 4WD. just for the hell of it, i put my mighty max in 4WD, dumped the clutch at what i think was around 6k (i dont have a tach) and all 4 wheels spun for about a half a second as i turned at about a 45 degree angle and my neck smacked on my hard ass head rest.

Say bye bye to your tranny.....

and I thought I was crazy doing a 5500rpm launch in my sti w/ dccd set to full open.

There are tons of people that launch over 6000rpm with no issues (myself included). The DSM tranny is not like the STI tranny.

i said bye bye to my tranny a loooong time ago OMG ROFL

i have no second gear anymore :notgood: my synchros are totally gone and it can probably get 2nd gear in 1 out of 7 times or so. so i usually just bypass it all together. i'm just getting my last fun out of this tranny til i get my new one rebuilt :thumb:

Well when the car was untouched with studderbox I launched at 5500 and could get the windshield wipers on everytime. Now that its running crappy it doesnt launch that hard.

LOL thats odd, i had to pull my fuse to mine cuz at the track everyone laughs at me when i shift to second and my wipers come on

my launch isn't very complicated 6000 rpms and step off the clutch. if you weren't ready for it it would break the neck on an elephant..well heres my stories and a couple of my friend slims now defunct 94 gsx. Everytime i launch my windshield wipers come on.. if they don't i classify it as a crappy launch. one time my buddy wanted his girlfriend to fell it launch so i do it and my rearview mirror flies off , bounces off her face and becomes lost in the back of the car for 2 weeks. My ex-girlfriend was sitting shotgun with the cam corder and Ive got a z06 vette at the light with me on westhimer.needless to say we were about to get to business so she starts recording and doesn't put it toghter that I'm about to launch so when you watch the video it goes like this.....you see the road, and hear my revs you can see the light go green then you see the ceiling of the car and hear ow ch as her head snaps back into the headrest. Slim once striped the spline out of a brand new (first launch) act 6 puck clutch. hes also on 2 occasions shattered the front diff and lost front wheel drive .

When you guys launch, do you just rev it up and drop the clutch (bad for tranny) or rev it up and slowly let off the clutch (bad on clutch) ? I did one tonight, 3k and let off slowly and it just rocketed forward. No tire spinning yet though :-\

The other night at the track the car was pulling me back so hard through first that I couldn't get the clutch all the way down and kept missing 2nd...Had to move the seat way up LOL!

This one time i had the most insane launch... It wasnt an awd but it was rwd. I was screwin around on my friends lawnmower and it just took off. I didnt know what was going on. And if you lean back it will pop a wheelie... :thumb:
