Your going to be hard wiring your radar detector using the power from your overhead light assembly. As with all electrical modification it's allways a good idea to disconnect the battery. All supplies are available at Radio Shack.
Tools needed.
A. Electrical pliers, wire strippers.
B. Screw driver Phillips.
C. Female Quick-Disconnects. 16-14AWG size 1/4". Quantity 2.
D. Ring Tongues 14-16AWG size 1/4". Quantity 1.
1. Remove outter trim piece. This just pops off.
2. Remove the two screws keeping the actual light assembly on.
3. Disconnect the wire connector to the light assembly. Set aside for now.
4. Remove wires from connector. Strip them about 1/2".
5. Your power cord for detector should also be stripped to 1/2".
6. Take the Positive lead from detector cord wrap with RED wire with BLACK stripe. Use Female Quick-Disconnects connector crimp together.
7. The other wire comming from the roof gets the other Female Quick-Disconnects connector.
8. Your last remaing bare wire is the negative lead from your detector.
9. This remaining wire crimp using the ring tongue connector.
10. Put quick connectors back on light assembly, just make sure the wires match up.
11. The remaing wire from your detector gets grounded by any of the two screws that holds the light assembly in place.
Now you have power for your radar dectector. Sitting nice and high on the windshield for low visability from theft and increased reception of radar signals.
Sorry no pics but I think its a very simple mod.
