ok so i have a 96 gsx and i'm planning on doing the suspension first

I have heard good things about H & R sports but have never seen them on a 2 g dsm. Anyone have pics?

Also what are the best shocks to use with these springs? From what i've read koni yellows ppear to be the best... is that correct?

Would it be better to do H&R springs with good shocks or the Tein Basics?

What i'm looking for is Better Handling, Better Stance and NO BOUNCINESS!!!!

honestly i have seen cars bouncing down the road and they look like shit, if i got a suspension that did that i would probably burn it.

keep in mind this car is a daily driver so i need really good driveability.

thanks fellas :D

oh yeah, and the cheaper the better (sans sacrificing ride of course :D)

Koni yellow is a great buy for your money, so it tein basic, comparible in my no hands on opinion, just done alot of searching on both, but considering that both are nearly equal in options, and widely beloved by many dsm'ers, I would save a few bucks on the h&r's and pick up a 14b and bov on ebay from ebay. Definatly the h&r/koni combo.

well actually i happen to be putting in a 16g on the otherwise stock gsx right not, but what good will the bov do me? if that is a newb question just direct me to the faq or whatever.... :D

are koni yellow's the only way to go for lowered car's? i'm looking at doing this really soon, so let me know :D

i have a friend who may be able to get me a deal, but what sort of price am i looking at for the shocks (i found the springs at a local shop for 190 + tax). I would like to keep this cheap because i'll have to get an alignment right away, and then i really really really want to get an exhaust soon after....

thanks :D

4 Koni Sports are usually $550-$600 with shipping, etc. I hope to be using these soon, as well. Maybe by mid-August? :)

550 to 600 is pretty high if you ask me. I think Ive seen sets on ebay as low as 460 before shipping.

As for the bov, yeah you need to change that. The 2g bov is known to leak after 15 psi, and it would be a damn shame to install a 16g and not be able to turn up the boost. You will also be needing a set of injectors, afc, and pump, and in my opinion you should have all of those including exhaust before the 16g. Any one would tell you, definatly do some more searching before you make any big purchases.

The best thing to do is follow the upgrade path, there are guys who have thought of it all for us already, here check it out http://www.buschurracing.com/stage_1.html

for that much money i may just see if i can get my friend to hook me up on some coilovers... any brand's to NOT get? obviously ebay/no name brand is outta the question.....

just so ya know, here's my current plan etc

the only reason i'm putting the 16g on is because i blew up the stock t25 and still had the 16g laying around from when i put the jdm engine in. that engine also came with 510cc injectors (yellow tops).

i am not planning on raising boost from stock levels AT ALL on the 16g before i do some mods on the engine etc.

the fuel pump i will probably just get a wahlbro (sp?) 190, but i'm planning to do the exhaust first.
from my understanding of it, my friend can burn ecu roms or hacks (can't remember what he called them) so this negates the need for an afc right?

with those aforementioned mods what would be safe boost to run? remember my car would be otherwise stock than those mods ....

and i know it's almost impossible to tell, but any ideas how close to the 300hp mark i would be? (planning on the turbo back 3inch exhaust btw)

thanks fella's :D :D

Just go find out what your friend can get. Tein, jic, apexi, can't really go wrong. But plan on paying upwards of a grand for the coilover's.

and engine performance would be better to answer your other questions, meaning I have no idea. OMG

I know other guys are pushing 20-21 psi on there 14b's on 550's, but guessing I would say 18-19 on your 16g with 510's.

as far as performance, 18-19psi on that setup seems like it would be hella fast :D
we'll have to see......

well the tein basics are only like 650 right now (can't remember where) but if i would have to spend that much, i think i'll just go with the h&r sports and some good shocks (you pretty much have to get new shocks when you lower it right????????)

also, are there are another good shocks for a slight drop like that, or all the yellow's the be all end all of shocks?

650 for the teins? Get em. Thats a great price. about 350 off of retail price. And yellows are the end, there are other shocks you can get for cheaper, but what's an extra hundred bucks (give or take a few dollars) for a real performance strut. The kyb is used alot but I am not sure why as it is the same design they use on trucks, I guess that makes tokico next inline to the koni. I think ive seen full tokico coilover kits for 800 or so, try a search on tokico the majority have been pleased with there set up's.
