I'll buy them off of you for $101.

And that red Eclipse with those weird lambo-looking doors looks awful.

It was a laser that was posted years ago with a convertable top.

I have those full yellow corners on my car, turn signals. Anyone else in the US have a pair with the solid front lenses or am I the only one? Just curious.

ummm i dont think so.

T tops are where theres 2 side pieces that come out, and a center brace that stays in, like on 300zx or trans ams and such. its called T tops cause it looks like a T, well more like a H but H tops would sound as cool" hey man i got H Tops in my IROC" just doesnt sound right.

then theres Targa Tops where the whole roof section basically comes off and there is no center bracing, like the supras have(fast and furious style). something like this requires more stiffening of the center subframes or you get a car with the structural integrity of a soda can.

so unless im just retarded, theres a difference. im prolly retarded though.

by "gen 1" you mean 1st generation? Thats really odd because the only 1st generation convertibles were sold in Germany as a non turbo...and that still is a myth

no..249 made by Goeckel..company has a new name now..seals cost the same (400 for the set of roof seals)

good mint cars go for about 5000

ah crap, now i have to explain myself... i am technicly being politicly correct when i say t top stands for targa top, it was either the early corvette or another car of the era, but it had a fully removable glass roof in 1 piece, we call them targa tops now, when they were marketing it back then it was called t top, short for targa top. the politicaly correct way to describe what you are talking about would be t-bar roof. when those first came out they were marketed as t-bar roof, and even KBB has them called t-bar roof in there options for cars. nowadays we just call the removable 1 piece a targa and the 2 pieces t tops, for what reason i have no clue. i read this all on a guys website about 3 weeks ago who looked up the history of this because he kept on getting mad, so i will try to find it and post it, but google isnt cooperating right now and i dont remember what i searched for when i found that site before.

911 was the first car to have the offical targa top... and they called it a targa top... they may have called what we call t-tops something different back in the day... but yeah... it's a targa... well that's all imma saw bout that... cause i don't want to cause something that will ahve this closed

t definately stands for targa.

looking at the t top eclipse, its not that hard to make one out of a regular one

just use some common sense and creativity, they look pretty cool too. :thumb:

the first red convertible is an eclipse, its obvious....but the hump is on the other side :|

exactly. porsche came up with the targa top after succesive wins in the targa florio race in italy in the late sixties early seventies. after dominating the race several times with brian redman behind the wheel of the short tail 917 (i believe it was a 917, not sure though)
they wanted to keep that racing ideal in their street cars, hence the porsche 911 targa.
the new targa's are full glass that electronically slide back to the open postion.
yeah i know i'm the king of useless knowledge.

So is the steering wheel. It appears that the image has been "flipped" over.

Its probably just me, but that looks like a toy car [red convert. euro eclipse pic]...LOL.

There's a guy in SHippensburg PA that chopped his 1st gen into a convertible, looks badass. I'm doing the Targa Top on mine, if anyone is thinking of doingroof cutting mods.. know this, you're new best friend will be an 8pt roll cage at least!

i was wondering if there was ever a 1g convertible

i remember seeing somethign about it but it only released in europe or something and it came with the 2.4 nt

just a curious ?

thanks
LaN-

Yeah made in Europe, non turbo. I'm not sure if there was alot of them produced or if it was only one. I dont know why people don't import them and put in the 4g63T, thats easy enough on a 1g, and well worth it because they would be very rare.

Miles away. Only in England, and some of the Crown Colonies, and former colonies. Not on mainland Europe. It's just a flipped photo. There are no RHD DSMs.
