so i have tried to find the thread on this just to make sure what i was told is right. but i could not find it. if you can find it please send to me or just tell me on here. but i have manual doors on my 96 rs and wish to make power. i was told to just buy the entire door assembly complete and that should be all. just bolt on and plug in and switch right there by door....? correct? thanks

Correct. That would be the easiest way. Try to find some with interior panels on them too. You will have to swap your arm rest piece out of your car, as I am assuming you have cloth and the power door you will get will probably have leather. And in the off chance it has cloth, you will probably have a different pattern in yours.

i found a guy on craigslist selling me BOTH doors with panels, window regulators, and windows for 100!!! :hellyeah: so just need to remove and plug in.....?

It's been a quite a while but.....When I did this on my 95 n/a I had to run a fused power wire to the doors control box and spliced into the really fat wire(can't recall what color atm) cause the doors would not work after they were just 'plugged in' After that it worked great.

And that is a steal on the doors man!!

ok yeah it is a deal! college kid needs to pay for classes by monday so he selling both for 100 haha and ok thank. so it not just plug in?! lets just cross fingers it is ha

Ive done it. But the main bundle of wires in the door that connect in the rubber grommet from the door to the car have a piece you plug into if it's a power car. But on my old RS I didn't have that because it was so basic. I had to run my own switches, relays, and wires to make it work.

So beware. Alot of work if you aren't ready.

ok because now everyone is telling me differently. the guy i getting doors from says he did it to his rs and was just "plug in" and another says may need wiring. another says may need just make sure fuses are good. and some say just plug in. so i dont know. but i will buy regardless because 1. got hit by drunk driver and need body damage BAD. 2. have no lock on driver side so need to reach over from passanger to unlock. 3. idk but just want it so i can do work for power.

Even if you have to wire it it shouldn't be that bad. It really just needs power.

Oh yea, I know the feeling of wanting power stuff. Powered out everything on my old RS. But if they arent plug in, rip out the socket of the door plug, and then youd have to run like 4ish wires into the door(try taping the wires to a big ass zip tie and feeding that in if the wires arent going in, trust me, this was a life saver for this project). Then pick up 6 relays and wire everything up. It's a really good learning tool if you've never had a somewhat hard wire job yet. I learned a good bit when I did it.

But have fun with it. Not a DSMer if you don;t wanna build stuff.

My RS doesn't have power mirrors, but it has power locks and windows. so when I tried to get a new door(mine is effed up) I didn't realize it had power mirrors, so I couldn't just plug my wiring harness in, because it was different.

So I'm not sure if it will work for you or not. You have to make sure the wire harness on the doors you're getting will fit the one on your car already, because if the car you're getting the doors from has extra power options or anything, it wont fit unless you like to splice wires.
