GT35R t4 turbo setup

Has anyone used 3in intercooler pipes for a GT35R turbo? i was just wondering how the spool up time would be like . i plan on buying stainless steel pipe and welding it all, so i didnt want to spend all that money in 3 in. pipe if it is not a good idea.
 
I am unsure of the spool time part of the question but wouldn't you rather go aluminum for your intercooler piping? Steel doesn't transfer heat like aluminum.
 
i was thinking about that to. so i thought about doing 3 inch upper and 2.5 lower in aluminum pipe. i plan on runing 35-40 psi. motor mods ar 2.3 stroker bored .20 over. manley pistons rods and crank. stage 4 racing head with 272 cams portand polished by thedsmgraveyard. gt35r t4 turbo. full 3 in. exhaust. dsm link with speed dens..

Steel also doesnt get hot as fast. My entire intercooler piping system is made out of Mild steel.

OP: do you have a fmic installed?
Your mod list doesnt list any modifications at all.

First, avoid the dsmgraveyard at all cost. Check out their vendor reviews.

Second, mild steel is heavier than aluminum, and it is prone to rusting. Three inch piping is fine, some will preach that there is a significant lag penalty. Not necessarily the case, dependent on your setup and if you have future plans to go bigger it's once thing you won't have to buy twice.

Third, what is your power goal? Why have you settled on the 35r? That would help us with cam and turbine housing recommendations.

Don't fixate on a boost goal just yet LOL

i am hopefully dreaming for 500+ hp. i set on a gt35r because i think that i could spool up a bigger turbo. i was actually wanting to go with a t4 t72 .96ar.

well i read the review on dsm graveyard and lets just their not doing my head now. i was going to get the 2.3 stroker kit from them they cant screw that up can they LOL

Yes, they can screw that up too.

There's a few 35r comp wheel and turbine housing combos that would fit the bill for you. If you have intentions of seriously going for a t72 down the road save yourself the headache and invest in a full t4 setup now. Build a fuel system, head, bottom end etc. that can handle a 72mm turbo.

I and others have learned the hardway how absurdly slow and expensive it is constantly doing incremental upgrades. Supporting a turbo this size in a way that you can max it out, is a 5 figure affair easily, even doing the labor yourself.

Ask me how I know. ;)

So develop what you have now, build for the 72mm and then when you are ready to upgrade from the 35r you just need a minimum in changes. Like downpipe, dump tubes, oil lines, etc.
