RNR Racing T3/T4 turbo setup

I should hopefully have some money coming my way and was thinking of getting the turbo kit that is on sale at RNR racing. I was gonna go with the 60 trim. what do you guys think of that setup? Is it any good? Also what kind of miles will I get out of that turbo, not miles per gallon but total miles before a rebuild?
 
ive heard the 60 trims are good, but as far as mileage on the turbo go's there is really no way to tell. it depends on how you treat the turbo. my car is on the stock 13g and has 152k.
 
do think you guys think that turbo should be run on a FMIC only or can I get away with it on my SMIC until I get the money for the FMIC? also what injectors would you guys go with?
 
depends on your boost and horsepower numbers. the stock sidemount wont be able to hold to much. but instead of a fmic go for a supra smic.
 
I would say you might be able to get away with 15psi on the stock sidemount, I would at least get an upgraded sidemount for 18psi. As far as injectors, 680s would be a pretty good choice.
 
How much power you want.. 60 is way to big and is laggy...get a 50 trim...good for street still and still good for track.. SMIC will work with any turbo at any boost but will heat soak like a MOtherf*cker...I wouldnt recommend a SMIC with even a 16g turbo unless you live in a very cool state...

Man question is how much power you want...t3t4 kits are dope but sometimes more then what you need or want to pay for.. you can still do 350 whp with a big 16g and a greddy fmic etc etc and supporting mods...

do you knmow what I mean..what are your goals..
 
Thanks for the help Krazy. I just may go with the 50 trim. My goals are to have a real fast street car. I would really like to hit 11.99 but a nice twelve would be fine as well. You seem to really know your stuff. I pretty much have 1500 bucks, what turbo setup would you go with if you had the same plans as I do. The reason, I was going to go with the T3/T4 turbo setup form RNR was it wasn't to badly price in my opinion and it comes with a exhaust manifold o2 housing and everything to install the turbo. If yo uahve any better ideas please let me know. I do plan on buying a FMIC as soon as I get the turbo setup I want. It is just alot easier for me to buy the most expensive things first when I have the money, instead of buying a bunch of cheaper things and then trying to save up 1500 bucks again, especially being a college student.
 
for $1500 you won't run 11s. Buy a 50 trim, NICE sized fmic, 660 or larger injectors, SAFC and make sure you have all the bolt ons like a turbo back and upgraded intercooler piping. Run about 20 psi and 11s are doable. Tuning is the key. I hope you're not on the stock clutch. ;)
 
I totally agree with you. I know that 1500 dollars is not going to get me 11's. My paln is exactly what you stated, I changed my mind and I am going to buy a 50 trim adn buy a FMIC w/ pipes SAFC 660s and a datalogger. I already have a clutch adn turboback exhaust, if I didn't I would be buying those things first. The reason that my goal is 11's or low 12's si because all my friends drive HONDUHs and are all 13's adn most of them now are going to be getting nitrous which will put them close to if not into the 12s so I really jsut want to beat them eithout spray.

Another question I have is how does the 50 trim compare to a 20g?
Equal lag? Overall Power? Anyting else?

Well lets see if your set on the t3t4 kit then I guess your set but look at your cost..
T3T4 kit $1500
FMIC $800-1300
660cc $300-350
Afc or something to control the injectors $ 200-500
Datalogger+PDA $150-300

total $2950-3950

of course you might be able to find some used parts and such but just giving you a idea.

Me personally if I could do it all over a again I would want something simpler..

Evo 16g $569 shipped
550cc $250
FMic 800-1300
afc 200

with this setup you will spend a 1000 less or more and yu can hit 12's
my friend mid 12's with a 14b...

but like I said thats what i would do...if you can have all the cash asap then get a t3t4 kit..but i wouldnt run it on a smic....or on stock injectors...so you would still need to buy all the shit at once...or wait before you can even install


t3t4 turbo compared to 20g....t3t4 way more efficent..20g is still a nice and proven turbo..but t3t4 all the way

lag is going to depend on your other mods..they can be the same but a 50trim can spool a little quicker..
 
I'm very interested in the RNR racing T3/T4 turbo kit for $1495 (on sale). It sounds as if I won't have to buy a single item extra on top of this kit. Let me hear opinions, etc on this kit. Thanks.
