All feedback is appreciated.

The car is a '90 Eclipse GSR-4 5spd.

GOALS:
~400whp daily driver on 91 pump
looking to be able to go to the strip a few times a year, also looking for decent handling, but nothing major (someday when I get a 2g, then I'll worry about handling more)

From the saying, "Cheap, reliable, fast - choose two", I choose reliable and fast, but at the same time am going to try and put my money to best used, so most parts will be bought used. :sneaky:

ENGINE:
the bottom end only has 80k original kms so unless I come upon a bunch of spare cash, it will have to do.
new OEM headgasket and ARP studs
272/272 cams (brand?)
new timing components and water pump
oil port mods (head and OFH)
minor head port
EVO VIII valvetrain
BSE
ARP rod and main bolts

TURBO & EXHAUST:
FP 68HTA
FP race manifold
EVO III O2 housing
3" Megan Racing O2-back exhaust (already installed)

FUEL SYSTEM:
Walbro 255LPH
new lines from fuel filter to rail
950cc+ injectors
Aeromotive AFPR

INTAKE:
Dejon intake pipe
PR FMIC
1g crushed BOV

DRIVETRAIN:
Fidanza flywheel
ACT 2600 PP
ACT street disc w/ solid hub
4 bolt LSD rear

SUSPENSION:
over time, all bushings will be replaced
Megan Racing coilovers
front strut tower bar
RM racing sway bars

ENGINE MANAGEMENT & GAUGES:
ECMLink V3 w/ SD
Eprom ECU
Innovative LC-1 wideband
Autometer boost, temp, oil pressure and temp

MISC:
I'm keeping the a/c but deleting power steering
battery relocation to trunk
if a Saturn alternator fits in the stock location, I'll do that

Missing anything? Help me fill in the blanks :thumb:

haha a GSR-4 is a rebadged GSX for Japan.

you don't think the factory coil is good enough for 400hp?

I was also thinking I should get a minor head port when I do the HG, I'll add that.

I will be primarily focusing on the tune. I've never tuned a car before so I want to learn; and get good at it :thumb:

ohhhhhhh cool i learned sumthin new today...... sweet

but yea your stock coil will be fine but you will want to get some better wires and some colder plugs and some head porting will help alot even minor head porting thats a good idea. Focusing on the tune is good idea too. Just be very careful annd keep a close eye on your wideband and knock and good luck :hellyeah: how much did u get that gsr-4 4? and where did you get it?

I paid $5200 for the car, but it's real clean and rare. I just turned over 80k kms the other day (50k miles).
Previous owner from here in SK imported it straight from Japan. Some things are written in English, but my sun visor, owners manual, etc. are all Japanese.

Thanks for the info. :thumb:

I'll experiment with the plugs heat range. Go with 7s and if need be, I can get 8s later.

Why not go with an hx35?Those FP 68hta seem a little pricey for what they are.

I've thought about that, but I don't want to go quite that big with this car. I'll save a Holset for a future drag car. I'm hoping to find a 68HTA used so it won't break the bank as much.

Hey there, you pretty much have it lined out.

For a AFPR id go with aeromotive, i have a couple, they are awesome.
For injectors, id go with something in the 800-850cc range(i have FIC 850s on my DD, they max out at 461hp, on stock fuel pressure)
As for ignition, the stock coil packs, wires, and plugs will suit you fine for 400 horse. I made 600+ on the stock stuff.(mitsu wires, ngk 7's, stock coil pack.)
For cams, check out HKS, BC, all the names are decent. I have BC280s in my DD, awesome cams. Also, if you plan on the head lasting for quite a while, i would upgrade springs/retainers.

Good luck with the build, youll have something rare for sure!

Thanks! I'll add those things to my list.

I'll have to start reading up on springs. I don't have a clue what I'd get. But then again, the head is supposed to have been new like 10k kms ago...guess I'll have to see.

if it only has bout 50k on the stock botum end i woudlnt worry those 6 bolts are pritty tough and will hold 400hp

that's the plan! I would love to do a 2.0L long rod though. little more torque and I would bump the compression up to 8.5:1, but just don't have the money.
