well, have you noticed anything stop working? Its really just a ground.......If I had to say anything, its probably the ground to something really stupid

ex.

Cig lighter light/power, a ground to an ashtray light, its near the shifter area...so its really not important.......I'm leaning towards a light....

it could have been to an older radio... i know when i got my car the kid had grounded his unit right there... not sure what yours went to...

well, I noticed that my radio presets do not work or the clock, I can set them when I'm driving but when I turn the car off and go out later they won't be there anymore, pain in the butt.

That sounds like your memory wire isn't connected. And yes, that was someone's after-market ground which some inconsiderate thief didn't bother disconnecting before ripping out whatever it used to ground.

I thought it had to be something stupid like that, but my presets and clock still don't remain there after the car is turned off, clock always goes back to 1:00 and presets go to like 87.9 or something. I've unhooked the hole radio and plugged it all back together, still no change. I'm stumped.

To power the radio properly, you need 3 things. Ground, pos, acc. It sounds like you lost the red (positive) wire... that keeps all your presets. Make sure it isn't connected to the yellow wire. That is the ignition wire, it's only powered when the car is running/ingnition on.

I might be wrong, its been a few days since I've had to rip my stereo apart for anything, but I believe you have it backwards. The yellow is the constant, and the red is the switch. I can look later today and tell you what color wire the constant coming from the factory wires if you need that. Don't know if you have a wire harness, which I hope you do.

I do agree that it sound like he lost his constant power lead. More than likely the way the radio is installed right now it is wired to one power source. That power source is on a switch and when you turn the radio off, it no longer receives any power causing it to loose your presets. Should be an easy fix if you can find the constant power. Do you have an after market radio? If so, is it wired with an after market wiring harness? If not, then you'll need to know what the factory constant wire looks like. I'll get that for you tonight, as said above, unless some other high speed DSM'r knows at this time.
