Alright, so after my 14b swap my clutch (or at least I'm pretty sure its the clutch) has been acting rather strange.
After driving around for 10-15 minutes, if I drive the car hard and take it almost to redline, when I push the clutch in to shift it will occasionally make a very high pitched, rapid grinding sound for a split second. Almost like when a tranny grinds but more rapid and higher pitched.
It generally happens in the higher gears, shifting from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, etc. It happens regardless if I shift into the next gear or not, and it does not seem to affect my shifting at all. It still feels fine. Also it seems the transmission parts have to warm up for it to happen.
I know that the previous owner put a new factory clutch in himself because it was popping out of 5th (car is on the 2nd clutch with 96k on the odo), but I am not sure if he had the flywheel resurfaced or not. There were several ghetto-rigged things on the car when I got it, so it wouldn't really surprise me if he didn't have it resurfaced.
My clutch doesn't slip, besides a couple times when I tried launching it; it free-revved in first gear, but I assumed that was because its a factory clutch and I'm throwing more power at it than it can handle. Could this be the same reason its making that weird noise?
The previous problem with it popping out of 5th, along with this grinding only happening in the higher gears, makes me think the output shaft may be missing some teeth or something. Let me know what you think. Mods are in profile. Thanks guys.
