I did the clutch drag test. it was dragging i adjusted it so it no longer drags. the car still grinds into 2nd at high rpm. it doesnt grind as loud as before but it still grinds. any suggestions?

Try changing your transmission oil, it may be old or the wrong type, some redline mtl works good, if that doesn't solve your issues, your synchros maybe worn and in need of replacement.

gotta agree with jack on this one, if the car was driven with a dragging clutch and grinding second gear for more time than it took to notice and correct it, then the synchro is probably shot. The last trans that went in my car was bought from a member here in town and he said 2nd gear synchro was out, well later on i called and asked if the clutch had been draggin because all the synchros were SHOT!!!!!

He hadn't thought so, but called me back later to say that the test on the Jacks site revealed it had been and my tranny that just needed a "2nd gear and synchro" actually needed all new synchros and a rebuilt/replaced center diff (diff being from the washer failure that's so common on them, which is something I think should be checked at around the 60k mile service on a normal DD eclipse to be honest)

EDIT: Just letting you know, making two posts on the same thing on the forum in such short time, especially in the same area will get you in trouble fast here, we try and keep the repeated questions down and with accurate info here so the search and archives can solve most anyone's issues befiore they have to post (why i've never asked a whole lot on here is becauase i search and read when i'm bored with the current topics and i LEARNED A LOT about DSM's since 10 years ago LOL) So don't forget about those two things..another thing I do is start to make a post and after the title with best descrition i can give is written it will suggest other posts to you that probably have the answer or same question, it's always best to open those in new tabs first so as not to look like a total noob or get people angry to not answer you becase it's a subject that's bheen covered a thousand times over (i'm not bitching at you, just letting you know some helpfull ground rules around here that will get you by on many things faster than waiting on repliesand keep you in good standing with the forum and us members :thumb:
