So I just got done doing some porting on my 16g trying to get rid of my boost creep, and put everything back together "correctly" or so I thought. When I took it out for the first time without my MBC connected it boosted just fine, but still had creep in higher RPM's. I decided to put on the MBC and run 13-14 psi to see if the creep would hold off at higher boost levels. After I got it set, I took a corner and barely got onto the trottle I notice a wierd noise, no smoke, just a noise like metal on metal. I don't think it's the turbo because I checked it and no play, in or out nor side to side, and neither of the inducer or turbine are touching the side walls that I can see. So what could of happened? Can the CHRA be bad with no apparent evidence, or do you think it's my motor? The wierd thing is it still seams to run and build boost (but I didn't test it out too much because I didn't want to damage anything anymore).

I would appreciate any input on this I'm getting frustrated.:banghead:

Thanks Andy

did you leave a bur maybe when you were porting it that the compressor is hitting, can you hear it when you spiin it by hand? Where did all the metal shavings go, if any got inside and between your bearings or blocked your oil passage you can get a metal on metal noise

I don't I think I left any burrs but I'm not perfect so I could have but I was being very careful about getting everything cleaned up and smooth. When I checked the turbine and inducer after this all happened, no noise was created while I spun them around. I took off the intake and o2 housing and watched as I spun both sides and saw nor heard anything. But I figured it has to be the turbo because that is the only thing I have messed with lately. So do you think the CHRA could be messed up due to shavings I could have missed while rinsing and cleaning it out. I only ported the exhaust side and the wastegate passage, so could those particles possibly have damaged anything with them passing through the exhaust that fast? I thought the CHRA was sealed off from where the turbine is?
Sorry for blabbing, I'm just really confused on what happened and the damage that it caused.
Thanks for responding, Andy
