ok so i bought a 1990 laser rs and it didnt move when i bought it

i put in a trans,slave and master cylinder,axle.
when the car is on it will not go into gear. i adjusted the master cylinder rod and everything and the pedal is only sitting at 5.5 inches from the floor.

many people told me that i need a new pedal assembly. does any1 know of any other issues it could be before i do the assembly swap because from what i am told it is not an easy or fun thing to do.

i was also told it may be a defective clutch but when i had the old trans in it the car drove but the throwout bearing and the fork would pop off the ball in the bell housing, so i am thinking the clutch is fine.

any feedback is greatly appreciated. i just wanna get this thing on the road.

Have you bled the slave...? Did you install all the parts yourself? I doubt it is the pedals or the actuall clutch, but you can check the metal. Have a buddy stand outside and see if the slave cyl moves when you press down on the clutch. Let me know if you figure it out. . .

We put an extention on the master cylinder. No matter how far we extend it the master cylinder the pedal will only reach 5.5 inches. The slave is moving when the pedal is pressed and we were bleeding the system for hours. The pedal height is causing the slave to not throw all the way. Any recommended bleeding procedures?

A quick bleeder would work, but if you want a fast and cheap route top up your clutch fluid reservoir, connect a bleeding tube (You can buy them at any auto store) to the nipple on your slave cylinder (the end of the slave cyl (Usually pokes out), and put the other end of tube in a container. (A dry water bottle filled with fluid will work fine)

Get your friend to pump pedal 3-6 times, and then hold to the floor. (This is important because if they let go of the clutch air will get in the system.)

Open the nipple for 5 seconds or so, then close.

Repeat this about 6 to 8 times topping up the fluid as you go.

After this you should b good to go, this is only 1 problem out of many though, if that doesnt work let me know. The whole 5.5 inches could be because it wasnt bled correctly...
