Ok, So right now I have a stock T25 turbo, sooner or later I will be upgrading the turbo, either to a TD05 for now, or to a 16G or 20G for good. But My question is, is it worth putting a Ggreddy FMIC on with still having a Stock T25 turbo? I can get the FMIC for a really good price, but I wanted to know if it will hurt me or help me with the turbo still stock. Eventually I'll upgarde the turbo, but for right now its gonna be stock, I really want it, but not if Its gonna hurt me in the end... what do ya think?!? :talon:

Ok....

Can you tell me about TD05 turbos? I can get one for almost free, Its obviously not as big as you can go, but Im up for any kind of upgrade I can get. Can you tell me how much of an Upgrade It would be from a T25 to a TD05? How much of a difference is there between the two? :talon:

Your going to have to give us more info than TD05, there are many turbo's that use a TD05 housing.

All I know is its Off a 1G Talon, The car is in a Junkyard and they are gonna crush It in 2days, He said I could have the Turbo For like $25 bucks, since hes crushing it anyways, so I just figured I would rescue it. I don't know anything about 1G's or Their Turbos. I was just told a TDO5 off a 1G would be a good upgrade from a T25, But I wanted to know how much of one? Thats why Im asking you guys. Sorry if you still need more info, thats all I know about it.

the 1g's have a 14b turbo. to put this in your car you will need an installation kit. i got mine from slow boy racing for about $200. the kit is comprised of different oil feed and drain lines and a j-pipe that connects the compressor outlet to your intercooler. you will need these items eventually if you plan to upgrade to a mitsubishi turbo (16g, 18g, 20g). it makes sense to buy the 14b and installation kit if you plan to use one of these ^ turbos.

another option you might consider, depending on your goals, is getting a garrett t-28. these are very responsive turbos and have much larger power potential compared to your stock turbo (t-25). plus it uses the stock oil lines, so you can save the $200 you would spend on an installation kit for a mitsu turbo. as for the intercooler, if you can get a good price on it, buy it. if you plan on modifying your car you will need it eventually. plus they look bad ass.

Yes, the FMIC will help out your cars performance. If you're going to max out your t25 it's a must because of how ineffecient the turbo is at high boost pressure and higher rpm's.

See if you can get the J-pipe and all the oil and coolant lines off the 1g also. Will save you the $200 on the installation kit.

Are you sure the turbo is any good? Have you looked at it and checked for shaft play?

FYI - It’s a girl TSI babe... HINT HINT (Probably not g@y). But I concur the name is good enough we don't need the eye strain vibrant the "girly colors".

Also Gary, please pull out your dictionary or take a typing class. Your lucky we have a good enough imagination to reconstruct what you wrote.

But enough of all that...

As for the link in the 2nd post. A majority of the people that actually are running a t25 with a FMIC avg a little better performance. Just remember with that small a turbo cheap, no-name, untested (possible hi pressure drop), ebay intercoolers could slightly decrease the performance of that tiny turbo, however, if you get a mid grade or higher intercooler you should notice a little more giddy up after 5min of driving on a hot day than before. Anyone running a stock 2g SMIC with any turbo can feel me on this one. Our intercoolers are like…. “minute men”…. Well 5min at 80 degrees F.

if you put the 14b on with the fmic you will notice a difference. but if you throw the fmic on with the t25 you will actually loose spool time and it will be a tad bit laggy. but at least your car will look cute with a fmic :)

ive driven a 2g with a t25 and just a fmic, and you could tell the difference between that car and mine when mine was stock. of course, it helps when youre running anything past 15psi on the t25, cause its mostly hot air, but the fmic helps allieviate that and even out the situation.

itll help even more with whatever turbo you plan on getting later down the road.

bout time we get some chicks in here with knowledge about cars.

My buddy installed the greddy fmic on his mostly stock t25 (some bolt ons) I believe he was running 15 psi & he said the only thing he noticed was more lag. Maybe on a hot, hot summer day you may notice a gain in power but with all that extra pipeing & area you will obviously get more lag compared to the tiny stock unit. And to say it would work better on the t25 if your running out of its efficiency range, isn't a good idea in the first place

To answer your original question, go ahead and buy it. You might notice a tiny bit (very small) more lag but it's a good idea to get it now as a supporting mod then to wait till after the turbo's installed. Depending on what size turbo you get you may not need it right away but it would be better to have it, then not.

im convinced that a intercooler on a t-25 adds reasonable horsepower.. even an obx fmic did in this thread, dyno proven to increase power.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172454

if you read you will see that

182 hp=197 hp

204 tq= 220 torque

so the intercooler itself added a solid 15hp and not to mention a solid 16 torque
Wow he got that much stock. I got the same amount of hp and less tq with all my mods. Oh well, goes to show that different types of dyno's make a big difference.
