Of course your GT turbo or FP Red is going to be a little better; it will also cost twice the price. These bullseye turbos are great for price, compatibility, and power. They are a great bang for the buck. What else could you get for $569?

I'd say a GT series or FP Red is more than a little bit better and to top it off they come with a warranty that covers racing use. Please compare apples to apples, not apples to prunes.

Bang for the buck is a relative term, anyone remember the MUTT series. Great value eh?

that's a weak ass statement. why not? because the to4b v-trim or the to4b-h3 is the SAME price you can get a turbo that is DIRECT BOLT ON and has better flow numbers.

hypothetically, why spend 1000 bucks on a 44 lb/min turbo, when you can get a different turbo for the same price that will flow 49 lb/min; all else equal?

trbotalon2 - agreed. but then again, you're comparing apples to oranges. the 50 trim was never, and never will be compared to a 16G..

1. "Flow numbers" don't mean squat here.
2. SCM61 does not = 50 trim, it is a 61mm GT series compressor wheel.
3. Apples to oranges? Were are talking pricing, and we are not talking about comparing 16g's. Who is spending a $1000 dollars on a 44lb/min turbo?

Man, you are losing me, is this thread even talking about the Bullseye turbo or not?

You could have spent $200 dollars more (not 2x the price) and gotten a PTE turbo.
Actually, it would be $320 more.... The PTE SCM's are on sale right now for $900...

I personally made 481whp on my old FWD with a scm61
Exactly, I dont want to make 481 WHP!!! I want 300-370 WHP. The Bullseye V-trim is perfect for me and I feel it will do the job better than a 16G.

Good luck, and can you explain how the V-trim is perfect and will do a better job than the 16g? Any basis behind this or do you just feel it? What kind of power you making now? How are you going to make 100whp more than Fosty, what plans do you have?

Or, are you just speaking out of your a$$?

1. flow numbers... perhaps, but we're talking about a technical data arguement correct?
2. I do realize that the scm61 is NOT a 50 trim turbo, but once again.. apples to oranges
3. my example was just that, an example. I wasn't using real numbers. it's just the point of the example is what i'm getting at.
4. the original arguement here is between the 16G and the to4b v-trim.. if we're talking about pricing, then why would ANY PTE turbo be in the picture at all? dsmmotorsport is selling there scm61 for 799. we're talking about a turbo that is 200 dollars cheaper..

as for your statement.. " Well, for around 290whp, why not just get a 16G or get an EVO 3 16G and make even more."

19 psi on the e316G will net close to what he dynoed with the to4b , but what i'm getting from this thread is that the to4b is more efficient up top compared to the e316G. and from the numbers from previous bullseye dyno results, it IS more top end on that turbo and that's why people are getting it

Do you honestly think a 48 lbs/min Garrett turbo is NOT capable of 370 WHP??

i have had over 5 customer get just the v-trim and upgrade from their EVOIII 16's and each one has said they felt a great difference in power. I think once the tracks open and people start running these people will see how well they really do. i personally like the spool, powerband and ease of install. To people who aren't looking for something extreme what more can you ask for?

and did someone really bring the SCM61 into comparison. Yeah it's a badass turbo, we have made over 500awhp on them but you're talking totally different beasts.

No one in this thread is taking anything away from places like FP, we all know what their products can do but as someone mentioned above certain turbos are not for everyone.

Maybe that should be their marketing slogan? "All the power of an EVO III 16G, but with the lag of a T3/T4"

You are doing a disservice to your customers by selling them this crap. I wouldn't offer this crap to my customers. It is your job as a vendor to try to sell your customers a quality product that will fit their needs, not some bargain basement pos of the week turbo put out by this years variatian of "The DSM Shop" aka "DSM-Performance" aka "Extreme Turbo", etc. Some of their old Mutt turbos also had these fine compressor wheels also.

Well I remember the mutt and frankenstein turbos. They were garbage. Now with the information posted are we saying that the same people behind the Mutts are also behind this turbo? That would be a very interesting developement. All I know is that with my supporting mods, my small16g by the et numbers, would make my car have over 300hp to the wheels. I know that I probably don't so hp numbers sometimes don't equate to et numbers. But, it seems to me that the e3b16g has done some incredible things. I also have read up on this Bullseye turbo and to me the numbers are slowly coming in. At first I had higher expectations of the turbo, hp wise, but not believing entirely on the hp 1/4 mile theory I would like to see what more developes, a few track tests possibly. It seems that a lot of people are nay saying this turbo. So far the numbers and information are not terrible, but could be better, and do show some prospect. As for quality of the turbo I guess a turbo seller or someone who knows their business about them, Ecoli for example, would know if they were complete junk. I assume that is what I am reading. I hope this isn't just another frank/mutt disaster but we will see. Anyways, keep the information coming.

HAHA, dude, your so funny. Screw cars, you should be a comedian...

Maybe it could go "More power than the E316G, and slightly slower spool for you FWD guys". Like I allready said, this turbo is what I want for my car. I dont want super-quick spool, or 500 WHP, the newest $1200 technology. I want what I got.

I find this very amusing, how pissed off you are getting by seeing people happy with these turbos......

1. Yes, it was a technical argument, which is why you shouldn't imply that that an SCM61 is a 50 trim.
2. Why would you give an example that doesn't use real world results, which all of the turbos mentioned have. You made up an exammple just to prove your example to the point of the example..wait, I'm confused, what was your agrument?
3. The oriiginal argument, was not an argument. The original topic was that Fosty could not understand why he made 270whp on his H3/50trim/57trim, or whatever they sent him?
4. Yes, most people would want to spend $200 more for 40+ years of technoligical improvements.
5. I never said anything about getting a 16g or an EVO III 16g.
6. Lets just wait for real world results. I'm sure many people will make the mistake of buying these turbos.

Wanna post the Dyno sheets you are comparing the 2 turbos with, or timeslips?

I am not pissed. Just wanted to maybe help some people out who may have been considering buying a turbo like this, thinking they are the best thing since sliced bread. Some of us have been around for a little while and seen some of the shit that has come out of previous renditions of the "shop" making these turbos. It really is fine with me if people want to buy crap like this. It only makes it easier for me and my customers to beat them at the track or on the street. I just don't want people coming into my shop for dyno tuning with their new H3 or V-trim turbos that are supposed to flow X lbs/min of air and then be dissappointed when they only make 300whp. Tuning can only do so much for subpar parts.

We'll see how happy you are in a year. The realiability of these turbo's is in question, and it should be. We all know what happened to most of the Mutt turbo's, and this is the same guy behind this shop. The Evo 16g is a known performer and it has great reliability.

I guess we need some guinnea pigs to test these out, so go ahead and buy one. Personally I would spend $200 more and get a PTE 50 trim.

Fair enough. It's winter right now, so give us all a few months. I'm sure you'll see lots of real world numbers start to pop up for these turbos. Have patience...... :thumb:

that's really all I have to say also. good summation.

turbotalon92 - just to clarify, I was speaking to ecoli about his statement of the to4e 50 trim, not the scm61.

I'm officially marking this date. I'll give until the end of this summer before the sh!t hits the fan... That's all I'm saying. :shhh:

Hopefully I would be able to put up some numbers on the dyno in about two weeks with my new H3. blcknspo0ln, can you help me tune this thing once I get everything in? Let's see if we can put down some good numbers at Turbotrix. :thumb:

When did this turn from a solved problem to an argument?

Let people spend their money on what they want. If it fails it fails. We'll note your "told you so's"

I'm not exactly sure who we screwed over other than the competition with our pricing. We dont build any of our turbochargers they are all "factory" built units with no room for human error. The only piece of the turbocharger that is custom is our turbine housing and that is simply installed with 6 bolts. We never said these turbos were as good as the GT series or other custom built hybrids, they are merely an inexpensive alternative to the 16 or 20g.

Thats what I was wondering.

Dave has never claimed these turbos to be "the next best thing to sliced bread". They were always just a better alternative to the 16g series. After the cost of a 38mm door, porting,+ the cost of the 16g its self, It makes more sense to go the bullseyepower route. You are badmouthing somthing that hasn't even had a chance to be tested by customers yet. Some people don't want a 10sec car. Or maby they do and right now its not with in their capabilites(sp?). People are buying up the JRC intercooler. New product, not a lot of numbers, everyones eating it up. Give it time when summer hits, after people get to the track, get to the dyno, log some runs and get some numbers. If they are as bad as you guys made them out to be then, money spent lesson learned.

People will stop ordering them, and Dave won't have another customer agian, since we all know that it doesn't take long for bad news to spread. Don't forget he offers a 1year warranty, no questions asked. I believe there was no warranty for the mutt/frank turbos. Another thing look at how active he has been with his customer service, be it here on dsm tuners, or talking with customers on the phone, or fixing problems(i.e. shipping the wrong turbo) he can answer any question you ask him. Does that make his turbos any better? No, but frankly it would make me feel better about giving him my business and buying these "old outdated turbos"

I'm sure he'll disappear and start again with a new business name, just like he did with the DSM Shop and a few other "companies" that escape my mind at this time.

There were no advertised features also. Thank god for the no warranty, they would have gone bankrupt.
