Got my bullseyepower T04b-H3

Yeah it weighs a lot, but it is a lot more turbo than your stock turbo, thats for sure!

It was right off the site. AMS is getting everything together right now. I was supposed to have the car monday but we've run into a few small problems. I'll have motor mounts on tomorrow and should be able to put enough miles for the HP dyno in about a week.

By the way... you think a evo or something is big until you see one of these babies.... only one word really gets it well: Ginormamhungus (just sound it out :) )

*waits for a 60-trimmer to loom over my head laughing*

I was thinking about the T04E, but this thing really seems plenty big enough for a car that needs to last a while.... and with the FWD I can only dream of smoke rolling off the tires in 4th..... until a week from now :)

Your pics are freakin huge!

Remember to link if they are bigger than 700x700

apologies.... thanks

Car got the mounts today and a few other things, I should pick it up tomorrow

Just got the car back home.... took about 2.5 hours with the snow :(..... at least I wasn't the guy in front of me who drifted right and then cut left into oncoming traffic just missing.... I don't think I would have been as lucky OMG

Anyway, so far everything seems all nice. A couple of things I noticed were that the RPMs hunted 750-800 pretty good, but as soon as you tapped the clutch (not even close to disengaging) they would fall to about 200-400. Not sure how the motor kept running (and a couple of times it didn't).... it seems this is a problem alot of dsmlinkers are seeing. Trying to figure it out now.....

With the prothane mounts the vibration at idle is HARDCORE.... its no stocker otherwise but its not that bad at all.

The gate actuator that bullseye sent me has an extremely tough spring. The lowest AMS could get it to was 17lbs.

Also, I didn't expect it with the eibach pros, but my rear camber is WAY off. That'll need to get fixed.

Other than that I really didn't get a chance to boost with the snow and traffic, plus I want to break it in all nice like... but I'll report back on that as soon as I have some info :)

So I came back from the dino kind of..... dissapointed

I was hoping for a little or alot more out of this turbo... but my numbers peaked in the 282 area.

With the mods in my profile and the car running smooth with a good tune it is pretty nice to hit full boost. The car was begging for it at just over 5 lbs while I was breaking it in... but its a nice kick in the pants hitting the gas down after 3500. In 5th I hit about 5lbs at 2500rpm, 10 lbs at 3000 (which pulls good but not hard) and then by the time you hit 3500k I started to lose control in lower gears (4th LOL because the roads weren't so pretty today. Dyno shows full spool at right about 4k and power just holds all the way to the end of every gear.... but I was still hoping for a little bigger of a number out of it.

All in all I'm not totally sure what I'm going to do, but I'm already thinking about going for a garrett in the 400hp range. Honestly, after the loot I spent on getting O2 housings and gates and modified downpipes and such I could have spent about $300 dollars more and gotten one of the AMS kits with an external gate and all the goodies. This may be the route I go this summer, but Its all dependent on which job I wind up taking (hating one making a ton or a hopefully decent internship) and whether I want to upgrade the tired suzuki savage to a ducati monster or a marauder.

A few pics of the turbo installed are in my profile.... and I have an exhaust at the dyno (of my greddy EvoII) and the Spool on the dyno which sounds pretty and piercing on the 15lbs+ side.
([Warning the files are pretty large but its a business school server... give it a good hit])

Again, I like the feel so far... its strong but I know it could be harder. The car runs amazing after the tune.... and depending how it runs in the dry, we'll see if I'll be in the market for a garrett... but I'm eager to log some airflow numbers...

Damn, that sounds NASTY...in a scarry domestic v8 killin way!!! :D I wouldnt be disappointed with 282 whp at all!! Kick ass!! :thumb:

How about some more information on the dyno..

What psi?
What A/f ratio?
Pump gas or race gas?
What was your timing curve like?

Also what FMIC are you using? It says in your profile a custom one. What is the size and flow numbers?

The efficiency range of the v-trim is 300-450 whp. I not sure why you didnt dyno out higher than you did...... I dont think it's the turbo's fault though....

Martin here at AMS tuned the car on pump gas for 19lbs of boost. Mechanically the car is sounds as can be. Unfortunetly in this case it really does point to the turbo. now whos to say it wont put down much more impressive numbers on race gas. John wasnt interested in that. he wanted a pump gas tune.

Eric

The boost was running a high 19psi
Not sure what A/F ratio it was set up for... AMS was doing the tuning
it was on a 3/4 full tank of 93 BP pump
I believe he said he pulled 1 or 2 degrees of timing, and after a quick look in the cabin the curve tooked good

If I can rember correctly the FMIC should be 27.5x7x3 bar and plate with 1psi drop

.... I should be able to do some logging tonight depending on how the roads are looking... hopefully this sunshine won't melt as much snow and will dry up the roads a ton.

Does anyone think its possible that I wound up with the V-trim and not the H3?

There's an easy way to check. Count the number of inducer blades on the compressor wheel. 6 is an H-3 and 8 is a V-trim.

That turbo is rated at 48lb/min, which is about 10lb/min above the B16G. I just would've expected higher numbers even on a pump gas tune.... At 18 PSI, I would've expect to see around 350 WHP. On the site, there is a dyno of a 99gst that has basic mods and feul mods and cams, and they are at 401 WHP at 20 PSI. I just dont understand the difference.... Fosty has more mods than the other guy and about 110HP less..... Just a little confused, thats all.

On the picture above I count 6 blades... so I guess its the H3

I was reading another post where someone was pumping about 292 max out of the v-trim.... so thats one of the reasons these numbers are a bit depressing (if not expecting 100something more out of it)

Do you have any updated pics with all your newly installed mods? But back to the point.... race gas would really help and maybe a little higher fuel pressure from what i have been reading.

I wouldn't get too discouraged, there must be a simple explanation for your results. I would take another look at your set up to see what may be the cause. Turbochargers either work or dont work there isn't anything in between. We sent out a test unit a year and a half ago that put down 525 at the wheels at 25 psi on race gas and water injection so I'm confident these turbos will produce the power. If you feel you have gone over your whole set up and this turbo is not what you expected. Please contact us directly and we can switch out your compressor wheel for the V-trim or even the new T04B 50-trim.
