So my car got hit while it was parked and it messed up the quarter panel and the wheel is all sideways.
My question is: is it worth fixing? or should i part it out and look for another gsx (which will be very hard to find in my area)?
The car is in pretty bad shape. So I've looked around the forums and I know that the quarter panel is going to have to be cut out and get a new one welded back on. But could anyone give me more information on how to get that done.
And also other then the lower control arm, what could have also been bent? I haven't taken off the wheel so i dont know exactly what bent. Could someone tell me what to look for?
I believe insurance is going to give me 3600. I'll find out for sure tomorrow.
Any replies would be helpful, even if its a link to another post.

Thanks for the heads up

Still Sounds like a major hook up to me

Do you happen to have any pics?

Did anything happen underneath the car?
Thanks for the pics btw

no thats the thing for me because it was an SUV but if you see the second pics i had to cut the inner fender also but your car is defenitly fixable dont throw a gsx to the scrap or junk it maybe it was a N/A then go for it but get the money fix it with those 3300, it will make a nice car out of yours for sure maybe even extra for a nice upgrade (cough cough) DSMlink! and a tune

Yoshi Tony, it really surprises me that you didnt take the glass out to do that. i would think it would be easier, and less likely to burn up the molding. good work though.

LOL thanks, i tried to save it but it shattered with the heat, but the molding didnt melt at all, should of taken it off :aha:

I actually grew up with my father doing this kind of work daily. Used to go help him work and learned a lot and I actually have everything you need to do ANY kind of bodywork . And I can tell you that there is NO WAY you can fix that in an hour...It takes 15 minutes to get the car racked and the wheel off and start taking a look at what you have. Not to mention you'll need to make sure the frame didn't get damaged. In a time where it costs $30 for an oil change I'm not buying that crap.

OP I'd keep the car and you may be able to sell it to a body shop or someone that can do their own quality work.

ahh so after reading your guys' post and getting some opinions from a few people, i've decided to keep it and save the gsx! (if the frame is not bent, or underneath is not too bad). i figured if i could get it to where it drives fine, then why not. sure its going to be salvaged title but im not looking to sell it. And with the little extra i have i could buy a few upgrades like yoshi said.

Thanks everyone for the replies and for making me come to a decision

Man, still miss that car. Insurance had gave me 4300 plus I kept the car. Ended up spending about 2000 or so on parts and labor to get the car to pass the salvage inspection. Once everything was ready to go, the trans gave out on me and I gave up and sold it for 650 bucks. Wish I had listened to @BrokenTsi's advice and parted the car and used that money to buy another car. Live and learn I suppose.
