So my car got hit while it was parked and it messed up the quarter panel and the wheel is all sideways.
My question is: is it worth fixing? or should i part it out and look for another gsx (which will be very hard to find in my area)?
The car is in pretty bad shape. So I've looked around the forums and I know that the quarter panel is going to have to be cut out and get a new one welded back on. But could anyone give me more information on how to get that done.
And also other then the lower control arm, what could have also been bent? I haven't taken off the wheel so i dont know exactly what bent. Could someone tell me what to look for?
I believe insurance is going to give me 3600. I'll find out for sure tomorrow.
Any replies would be helpful, even if its a link to another post.

Depending on how hard you got it and the fact that you said it's a piece-o-crap I'd sell her.

It was nice before! just needed side skirts LOL. but now its all bad

Youtch, do you know who did it? I'd be MAD  Hope it works out for you, that's one shot of bad luck.

Ya the guy lives down the street from my house. I wanted to punch the dude. And on top of that he tried to hit and run!

Take the insurance money, sell the car for 2500 as is, buy a nicer GSX.

The problem is, there isnt any gsx's anywhere!

but i still need my questions answered, pleeaase

2k in damage? You smoke rocks for a living or what? my girl did this in our 2001 Jetta 1.8t Wolfburg Edition. I needed the whole rear axle and that was all....Picked up the piece for 16o and had it put in for 50. total cost= a little over 200 bucks....I say if you can find the rear parts you will need aka check the extent of the damage then Save HER!!!!

Do you smoke rocks? Did you fail to see his rear quarter panel is smashed in. Cant fix that bruh. Shit is toast.

A crashed car will never run the same as it did before. The panel for sure can be fixed.
I have seen good body shops who cut the whole metal and weld the new one on and it looks like nothing happened.
The worst that can be done is that your rear frame got bent and you need to replace that as well.(hard to find)
The best case is that just your control arm got bent but i doubt it.

It sure can be fixed with money. It all depends on you if you want to keep that car or not.
I find it hard to believe that there are no GSX in CA.

Why dont you just take the car to 3 or so body shops and get estimates. They should also give you a written estimate showing everyhting that is damaged. That will obviously make your decision more clear.

I have an uncle that could probably be able to do the quarter panel. I know its not easy, but he did a panel on a taurus that came out fairly decent.

And ya, the bottom of the car is what I'm scared of. Do you know what I should look for when i lift it and take the wheel off? I hope that just a couple of the components got jacked up, but the wheel is pretty tweaked so you never know.

To give you an idea on how the crash was. I was parked on the side of the street. And some dude who "swerved to not hit a dog" hit my car. (ahh ####in' douchebag :banghead:) I'm guessing going 30 mph. My car rolled quite a bit with just had the e-brake on.

No GSX's on craiglist in Redding, Sac, SFbay, and LA

Ya, i haven't even thought of that. Been on turtle mode lately. I'll do that as soon as i have time

My roomate had a Simillar situation happen to him. Crazy drunk bi*** terrorizing the neighborhod hit both of his cars. $3600 doesn't sound even close especially if it bent your control arm and crossmember. The door took the brunt and it was still $5000 in repairs. Id part it out and find a new one.

^^^WOW ownage.

Yea it was a crazy day happened while we were watching the playoffs. Heard a wreck out front what sounded like a three car pileup. Happened to just be this chick bouncing off the cement retaining wall and skipping across the intersection into a telephone pole. Went to investigate and what do i see? This dumb shank beat down her airbag throw it into reverse crash through the neighbors fence, narrowly missing his $100k boat. Then she throws it in drive, makes a wide sweeping turn around the corner (whole time I'm thinking not the gsx) wham bounces off my roomates car and into the back of his 08 Nissan pickup. By this time the whole neighborhood is out going ¿WTF? Onward again, she takes off down the street almost running over my curious neighbor, tears through a yard and gets wrapped up in the park fence. The end. Sorry for hijacking your post op just thought it was a good story, I'll never forget it.

Anyone saying that isn't repairable obviously has no bodywork experience and shouldn't be giving advice. That really isn't bad at all. You probably bent the control arm so replace the control arm and find a local shop and get quotes. My buddies 2g gsx got hit on the passenger side WAY worse than that. Monday he's getting it repaired (not painted) for $75 by a local shop, including pulling a dent on the driver side and passenger front fender. Before you decide to get rid of it go get it quoted. No sense in just throwing in the towel without even looking around at pricing.

You just need to find a quality shop to do it. (FYI the shop that I worked at quoted my buddy $1300 to fix the quarter including paint, which was ridiculous).
