good strong tranny?

I thought it was the torque that killed our trannys?

Absolutely correct....But considering most builds have about the same if not a little less torque than HP, I asked for HP. Also when people go for a build, they have a HP goal in mind, not a torque goal (usually)....
And plus, Shep's Trans are rated for Hp..Not torque

Still it's wrong of me to assume...

So what kind of HP and Torque are you looking at?

(Thanks for clarifying that) :p

Well it seams as Jacks and Sheps tranny's got some good feedback...

I would just go with shep. If it was a lower HP build than I would say go for whatever you can get for cheaper but IMO Shep has more experience with higher HP builds. Im not saying at all that the Jacks and IPT doesn't have experience but it seems as Shep is more of a known name with A LOT of reputation behind it, especially with higher HP builds.....Only real way to tell is to ask somebody who had both, or all 3 (which would be so rare)

My opinion: Go with stage 3 shep trans
When I think of good strong tranny, Shep automatically comes to mind.

Yeah, stage 4 would be good because it leaves some room for improvement seeing as the stage 3 is rated at 600hp and 600hp is what you want.....

The stage 4 won't be "streetable" though.....Good luck!!!

well i dont want to ruin your day but the stage 4 is streetable if you get the lsd and 4 spider center differential and spend a lil extra money on it and i wont 600+ meaning 600 is my minimum hp

The Stage 4 is our best trans without going to our dog box. We exclusively ran this trans in our 8 second Talon. This trans comes standard with a locked center diff so it is more tailored for those weekend warriors but a 4 spider can be added for daily drivers. With a properly working clutch this trans will shift at 10,000 rpms with ease. This upgrade replaces all of the 1-4 internals and shafts and has a custom ratio 3-4 to keep the rpms up between shifts and through the traps. For those wanting to run the stage 4 and retain drivability we can substitute a 4 spider for an additional charge.

no my profile is not upto date if i was to put my motor togather right now id probly only be 400- 450hp but goal is 600+ when done and why buy tranny twice from my freinds advice over at kentuckydsm ill be going withe the shep atage 4 with all the goodies added

Well, be careful. Going over 600 WHP is a totally different league and has a lot of variable and I wouldn't use it as a DD.

At 600hp there is no such thing as a good strong "glorified" factory trans.

It will work, but if its a daily, and you drive it alot on the street, something always finds a way to break. Ive sheered off evo3 3rd and 4th on two different runs.

At 600hp a auto, straight cut gearset...or even maybe face plating the factory gear set.

I would cyro theat the input and intermediate, shot peen, and even try the WPC theatment after shot peening all the factory gears.

Dox box or auto are strongest way. Factory gears only last so long... Get a welded diff for strength, it's streetable, and rem isf.

Good luck, twin disc and a staging brake help with shock.

My friend drives his vw on the street with a dogbox, it's fun.
