Look like a good project car? Assuming its awd what should I offer?
id look it over before you figure out what you might offer. the way he words the ad makes me think that the coolant leak isnt just a ruptured hose. Sounds like he got into something over his head and is looking to flip the car. Make sure you want to invest time in a possible engine rebuild, because that might be the case. That being said, the car looks very appealing.

I was planning to rebuild regardless..I'm doing a slow build..but a 2.3 stroker!

Oh..and its a fwd:(

Guy told me its not the coolant..its the timing..and that leads me to believe he's tried to crank it..could this have messed the valves up?

It isn't awd but I don't plan in 1/4 miles..so does it matter?

So is that a good car?

If there is a problem with the timing, that means he arrived to that conclusion by virtue of cranking it and torching the valves. Expect engine work. I'd say its worth 700$ just on the merit of the parts and shell, assuming the suspension isnt rusted to shit. I say beat him up on the price a few hundred and take it home for 500$. Good luck.

For a 1g fwd turbo with potential valve damage i'd offer him a few hundred bucks. You can find all kinds of awd project cars for the 500-800 range.

You guys are right on target there. I got my 1g with a completely rust free body and undercarraige for $500. It had some epicly smashed valves too.

Yea, its worth it. Just replace all the suspension parts if needed while your rebuilding the engine. It does have 250k miles on it afterall. I paid a grand for a 97 fWD in very good cosmetic shape. But, it had brutal rod knock LOL. But around STL these things seem to go for a good price. It was in high demand when i bought it. So 700 is def a decent price.

My other thread was for a 91 I was suppose to pick up today actually..but somone upper the offer:,( it was a 91 gsx

So should I try to get him down to 500 and pick this up? It has a brand new head..but the valves haha.

Okay I talked him to 500 bucks so should I go for it or wait for awd?

What will you be happier with? AWD or FWD? They both have potential.
