good cheep turbo ?

I just got done working on a merkur xr4ti it has the same motor as the mustang svo. a 2.3 litre turbocharged engine. the turbo on that thing looked considerably biger than the ol 14b. it said 60 ar on the side and the exaust side looked like a t3 set up. I bet if one were so inclined one could pick one up at a salvage yard pretty cheap. tell me what you think

I actually have one sitting in my garage. It is an IHI unit, T3 hot/cold side, and will flow 380 cu.ft/min. It would be a decent upgrade, but it would be the same as upgrading to an Evo316G unit. I would imagine that this one would like higher boost numbers than the E3 unit due to the bigger compressor wheel, but as far as performance I cannot tell you anything. I was going to use it as an upgrade but decided to stick with the proven 50trim.

you could be right but Ive pulled out some descent 14bs in my day. considering the performance it could be worth finding out. oh well it was worth asking anyway. thanks for the info
