good 300whp turbo

hmm, I appreciate everyones input, I think it boils down to this..... can I run a 16g, get my 300whp, enjoy life, and have a slightly overworked, yet workable turbo.....OR..... would it be wiser to go ahead with a bigger turbo as in the 50 trim and hope the motor can handle that. TO be honest with you, this is my first totally rebuilt turbo, as I said earlier I had turboed my n/t and fell in love with it. So before I ship off for air force boot, I am hoping to finish the car and run some decent numbers, so I don't know what my engine can even handle, wiseco forged pistons, forged eagle rods, completely redone head, hks 272's, clevite bearings, and supporting mods on the intake and exhauste. I am completely done with this engine except for the head being bolted on, and ordering my turbo of course :D anyway, thanks abunch

3600 seems about right ... my 56 trim hits 23 psi at 4300. Why put a 16g on that car??? People saying that turbo is overkill for his goals need to realize his whole setup is overkill for his goals. He says he has forged internals, so someone please explain to me why the hell anyone would put a 16g on a forged motor? Get at least a 50 trim or run a stock block.

I don't believe he's running the 4G63 motor as his car is a N/T, I believe thats why he upgraded with forged internals.

300 whp on a properly tuned EVOIII16g will not be overworking it. Being fwd most guys are making 300 +whp with less then 20 lbs. With a 50 trim you will probably loose around 500 rpm's on spool up but that is only an estimate as every setup is different.

On my 14b I pulled 222.9whp in January... I'd like to see a little more than that out of it... sleepyvr4 just recently laid 321 whp with his 14b (it was somewhere around that, check th enewb forum). I WAS gonna go with the 16g when I thought I'd be content with 350whp, but realizing I'd rather have 450-500 range I've been second guessing that. What turbo's woul dyou suggest for around 500whp? I DO know I'd hafta do some fuel upgrades as well.

60-1 or any of the t3/t4 56 trims.

I'll be an outcast and say go with a ported 18g. The port job would be good for a 3500rpm spool, and around 600cfm is what the 18g flows. With a supra sidemount/fmic, 2g mas, medium tune, and about 18psi you should be right around 300whp, just make sure you buy some extra sets of tires for the front LOL. Any 16g will get 300whp, but an 18g will give a little bit of slack to play with, plus forced performance can do an 18g conversion for only $429 I think.

With the internal mods you have stated here, you're looking at an engine that can handle over 600hp. Dont trip about what turbo to get, just get what you can afford. I agree with the guys saying get bigger than a 16g for 300hp. I have a FP3052 on my wishlist

so I take it that my car should handle a 50 trim just peachy, which I'm happy about! and I am now looking into getting one. I did put the hks steel head gasket on, I don't really get it but oh well, not the gasket I have grown to love, oh well, anyway, tonight I turn the key for the first time. I have an old tdo5h on there right now, it burns oil but boosts alright. I would like to purchase a 50 trim this week. Any preferred place to buy one with price and reputation in mind. Oh, and wish me luck tonight, pray it starts. thanks for everyones input, it's fantastic.

oh yeah, and it is a 4g63, sorry I didn't put that, it's a n/t block 4g63, actually used to be automatic. who has the fastest first gen non turbo conversion to turbo?

I just got home from the dyno, made 289whp/304ft-lb on my 14b and stock SMIC on unleaded. ;)

What boost were you running? Dynojet HP always seems a bit optomistic to me.
