Ive read reviews on tires and have searched on here, but it seems like all the threads are years old. I need new front tires and want a street tire but something really sticky to hook up with but on a budget. Anything like that exist?

I was looking at the bfg gforce kdw's because ive read good things. They have a few different tread patterns which is a little confusing and are also a little pricey. Anyone know what tread pattern to go with or if there is anything comparable and a littke cheaper?

i use the hankook ventus v4 es tires on my gs-t and my STi, great tire, aggressive tread, great traction.

ya'll are gonna laugh but i used a set of Achilles on my last eclipse. They cost around 300 for the set maybe 250.. cheap as hell. Put 40k on them and they still had plenty of life left. I put nankangs on my gst and theyre fine. Cheap too but i think a bit over 400. Had i remembered achilles at the time, i wouldnt hesitate to buy them again. They are long lasting tires. The ones i got were 17s, z rated low profiles iirc.

I just bought a set of Federal 595 RS-R tires. They are one of the cheapest 140 tread wear tires I could find. I paid about $108 per tire for 235/40/17s. The grip is increadible going from a 400 tread wear tire. I would highly recommend picking up a set.

I also have a set of 245/35/18s all around.

Best grip for the buck :thumb:

I was gonna suggest Yokohama S. Drive cause thats what I run. I got them for about $75-80 2 years ago. They are more like $110 now before shipping. I drag race and autoX in them and they hook very well. Much better than the Sumitomo's I ran before.

+1 on these, I have them and love them. Cheapest place to buy them is on tirerack.com

I'm not so much of a fan of Yoko S. Drive for street and sometimes track use. I had them on my single cam vtec with basic bolts. And my civic would spin them. But for comfort, noise level, smoothness, bounciness, longevity it gets an A+ from me.

The federal is also a good tire. I was going to purchase it from reading reviews but it's stingy in the size I wanted.

Yea but what tire isn't going to spin on the stock rims? I can spin them on my gst if I floor it from a stop, it but as far as handling and taking off from a roll they're great

UTQG rating is not shared across the board between manufacturers. it is only comparative between tires manufactured by the same company.

if you want a cheap tire that grips ok, nexen, sumitomo, and hankook are decent and perform ok. next up would be KDWs, continental and kuhmos. if you want sticky and dont give a hoot about wear-life, some bridgstone Blizzaks will stick like glue. although they arent as cheap as winteforce. you could also try some hankook i-pike's.
