GM Mass Air???

I did a setup with a 3 in GM MAS it works well, allows you to run the turbo inlet open, and vent to atmosphere:D. However you will need a translator, i have the gen 2, or if you have dsmlink v3 you can get the cable so you dont run the translator but its like 85 bucks.

Right now I dont see a need for the gm mas/translator. Are you saying front mount intercooler or forward facing turbo manifold.?

Im not sure i follow a GM MAS is a mass air flow sensor which you can get either 3in or 3.5in and YOU CANT use it without a translator. Idk if thats what you meant.

Ok so your talking about a front mount intercooler. If you got a good deal on both then go ahead and get it but you will need a maft or ecm link v3 with the cable for the mass. You can also get both and just hold off on putting on the gm mass and stay recirculated till you get the translator.

Just to recap so you understand a little better( should have searched first!). The GM MAS is an air flow sensor that would replace the Vortech system that comes with the car. Its located to the right of your air filter and the only way to do the mod is by running the new sensor with a translator because they are mean to be used in GMs. The other reason why you have to use the translator is because the GM sensor is a hotwire unit and it doesnt incorporate a barometric pressure sensor or a air intake temperature sensor so the translator gives the ecu "normal" values for both these readings. You cant go wrong with a front mount just check it to make sure is in good condition. Honestly if you dont have too many mods you dont need the GM MAS, try to buy th IC by itself or get both and sell the GM MAS, good luck.
