Gm Maf install question

I run my car with a safc tune/stock maf ATM, I'm installing a gm maf and translator very soon and I was wondering if it's just plug and play. And if it will affect my safc tune. Also can you run a gm maf and maf translator with the ceddymod? I'm going to do that as soon as I get a new laptop.

You can run the GM MAF with the translator (and ditch the SAFC since it's not really needed at that point), or run a GM MAF directly to the ECU if you have EMCLink and one of their GM MAF cables.

I just want to run the gm maf. Is there any way to just make the translator not correct my fuel ect. I just basically want to swap maf type and keep the safc until I get ceddymod installed. Also I have all the parts for ceddymod so I'm using it as opposed to ecmlink.

Yes, you can tell the MAFT what changes to make, if any. For example, when people used the MAFT with link, you installed it with no changes, and then controlled everything from link.

Okay, that's what I wanted to know. Now I bought this one used, how can I set this? and since it was used is there any chance that something is saved on it or what?

I'm assuming you have the basic MAFT. If so, you can download the user manual here.

Set the fuel knobs (AUX and BASE) for 450's and then set everything else to 0 or OFF. Then you can adjust everything via your tuning device.

Dumb newbie question: what's the advantage of using the GM MAF anyway? Stock MAF just doesn't have it or something else ... ?

Some people flow more air than the stock MAS can read. The GM MAF can take more air.

And it can be run in blow-through so the ricers can get that all-so-important whoosh from a vented BOV.

so in order to run a gm maf you must have either a safc or a maft? i want to run a gm but dont really wanna spend that kind of money on the safc or maft.

You need either a MAFT or ECMlink with their GM MAF cable. An SAFC has nothing to do with running a GM MAF.

AWW MAN!! I recently read someone actually threw on a GM MAF without this stuff. All he used was a cable from dsmlink that allows you to plug one end to your factory plug, the other end goes into the GM MAF. I thought with this you can do that and still use anytuning source available such as ceddymods/ecuflash.
