Giving in to the 4G63T

Ok, me and the love of my life, 97 Eclipse RS are going our seperate ways. Trading her in and getting me a 95 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. I thought of the idea of saving up 3K or so and getting a turbo kit and running 8 PSI or just somewhere enough to break 200 horses and now I have the money. But after driving around in the rain out here in south Cal, it seemed as if I was driving on ice. Also a buddy of mine just got a 93 RX-7 and im like GRR ! And searching around, I've seen the TSI AWD for $3,200. So enough chitter, my goal is 250 HP and I know that the RS is very capable of it. Also the fact that having a RS-T would be awsome, something no-one in this area I know has. But also the Talon is a rare car that isn't seen or known of by many of the honduh boys. And I think it be awsome to stand out a bit. But heres the problem, I bought the RS on a splurge and got ripped off badly, 10 grand ripped off. So I still owe about 8, how do I go about doing this, I only want one car, can I trade in the RS and get the Talon for like 2K or so and save me the rest for mods for the Talon? And what about what I owe on the loan for the RS? I'm new to the car financing thing.

First, I think this post really belongs in the "Hangout" section...No problem, I'm sure one of the mods will take care of moving it for you.

As for your problem....I seriously doubt you will get 8K for your RS....Is the TSI for sale at like a car lot, or is it a private seller...?

$3200 is a good price for a 2g AWD, so if you can do it, I'd say go for it, if the car is in good shape.

As far as financing....That you will need to talk to your bank about. Being upside-down on a car loan is not fun, but is something that most everyone deals with from time to time. I would think that you could get somewhere around $3-4K for your RS if it's in super good condition. You're still responsible for paying back the remainder of that loan on it, no matter what happens, though.

It's a tough dilemma to be in unfortunately .
Personally, if I was in this situation, I'd see how much I could get for the RS first, before jumping on another car and putting yourself in more debt. 2g AWDs are fairly easy to come by. No need to jump on the first one you see......Pay that loan down a bit on the RS first...that would be my advice, in case you're interested in hearing what I think. Haha.

Yhea, thanks for the advice, maybe I'll save up about 4-5K and just buy myself a 2G AWD instead of putting myself in more debt. And in that time I'll pay off more of that loan and when the time comes, buy the AWD and sell the RS. 4K out the window for the AWD and 4K back in my pocket for the RS, equal trade and pay off the loan for the RS.
