After many months of being upset and frustrated with my project and not really having the money to make any progress with it I have finally had my hand forced into doing something toward getting it drivable... since the last post I haven't really done a hole lot just a bunch of little things here and there toward getting the interior done up but nothing more than that. The latest additions to the car were a pair of pioneer 6.5" and 6x9's which I had to dent the wheel wells in the rear to get to fit but worth the small amount of pain i had to put into the car. other than that I had been limited to doing small amounts of body work here and there up until earlier this week.
My wife had talked me into purchasing a 2010 Yamaha R1 back in December (mind you this is well after a year since the physical therapist had told me I was "all good to go") and I had been switching between it and the STI as my daily driver. Well as luck has it my wrists started acting up again and my wife and I decided to pull the insurance and registration off the bike for a while and not drive it. The only problem that brings up is the fact that the Subaru is getting up there in mileage and I don't believe that the timing belt had ever been replaced (at least not in the year and a half that we have owned it anyway). So I needed to come up with something else to drive for a bit.
So, here it is... In all its glory... My Talon... About to get a coat of sealer on it so that I can get it registered it and make it drivable without having to wory too much about the primer getting all messed up, at least until I have a chance to scrounge together the money to get all the parts for the timing belt change on the Subi. Yea she maybe flat black for a while but at least this way I can continue to work out the body while I drive it and once I get the money together I will put her back on jack stands for the actually color coat. So far I think I have put about $250 or so just in the paint alone, that doesn't mention the $100 I spent on that crap paint I purchased online...
My wife had an interesting idea today that I thought of passing it on to see what some of those of you who follow this build think. originally I was just going to go with the full on factory color seem for the talon even though I have an eclipse front end (which if I can find someone local here that wants to swap it out with me for a 2GB Talon front end I will be willing to do so). then I decided that I really didn't like the 2Ga thumbnail fin on the Talon body and started filling holes in the hatch. After completely removing the fin and windshield wiper I thought to myself why not do the hood, top, and entire hatch in black and the rest of the car in the red that the engine bay in currently. Then my wife suggested that I do that only instead of doing the top, hood, and hatch in gloss black I should do it in flat black and do the rest of the car in the gloss red that I was going to do anyway and I thought humm....
That might look good..
Well let me know what you think and in the mean time enjoy the pics.
Before the single coat of primer over the entire car.

After primering the entire car in one color.

And of course up on stands waiting the sealer coat.
