I can't seem to get the oil pan off, all the bolts are off but it will not budge, any tricks?

Stick a putty knife in between the flanges and pry on it to loosen it. I usually use a flathead while being careful not to knick anything.

Use a putty knife and a hammer to work your way around the pan. Dont try to pry it off just by sticking something there and pulling, that could bend the pan rail and make it more difficult to seal when you to reinstall it.

Ok well, I got it to come down but not off. Its caught on something, not on the outside but inside? HELP! I got an hour then have to wait a week before I can get to it again...

Well I missed your deadline but it's probably a baffle that's stuck on the oil pickup. Jiggle it around and it should drop. Don't be afraid about hurting something, everything down there is stout.

Oh i was so pissed off I wasn't afraid, but it did not do the trick. Its stuck on the drivers side back, near the axle. I can see the thing inside that its stuck on, no idea what it is but it will not go past it...

There is nothing else in there but the oil pick up. There is a hole in the baffle for the screen of the oil pick up to go through. You just have to jiggle it around like kahl said and it will come off. Maybe you were a bit to frustrated last time you tried.

Took some time got all calmed down AND! Nothing... cant get it off...

Is it dropping down from the block? If so, the only thing left is the pick up. It will not drop straight down. The flywheel side should lower the most and allow you to look a little into the pan. Good luck.

there is one bolt that you may have missed.. above the axle, you cant see it and you will have to remove a few bolts on the axle holder to carefully pry the axel to the side to get a ratchet in there. You will also have to flex the downpipe to the side, or remove it entirely.

I did a mini write up on this topic if you want to read it (got me a rep point heh)

Oh its on a 1990, and I got all the bolts off, it will drop down about half an inch but gets caught between whats ever in there and the axle.

Unbolt the CV shaft assembly from the block. That will allow it to move out of the way about a 1/2" and that should give to enough clearance.

On my car, I use studs on the oil pan instead of bolts. This means I have to drop the pan straight down to clear the 1" studs and that requires me to unbolt the axle from the block. I's been a long time since I've used regular oil pan bolts, and I couldn't remember if the axle had to be unbolted for cleanance or not. I don't think it has to, but it definitely helps in any situation.

The flywheel rock shield might be in your way too. Make sure you unbolt the drivers CV axle from the back of the block and the turbo drain line on the front. Other than that theres nothing holding it in.

I guess this is bad, but there is no plate covering the flywheel.

Oil return tube was off. I'm going to unbolt the axle from the block and then report back.
