Little background: After life threw me some wicked curveballs, I had to put my car modifications on pause and then on the shelf altogether for quite awhile. I used to run an 18G/Dejontool Supersidemount/660cc/AFC setup in this car and it was decently quick and very fun to drive around town with the minimal lag that setup carried but then I wasn't satisfied and swapped setups adding a PTE SCM32, 780's, Comp 101 cams and right as I started to get a decent tune I unexpectedly became a father and the car sat for 2 years... Then went to jail for a year, got out and went back in for another year. Now after all that drama and finally getting back into the flow of normal life, I've decided I want to get the Eclipse back up again as my daily driver.

So I've been out of the scene for a minute and just want to get reacclimated:

Currently the car has no turbo, intercooler or intake setup as they were all sold for dope money and then lawyer money back then. So this time around I am looking for a very streetable DD that still has some good pull on pump gas with full boost before 4K. Budget is also more of an issue this time around. So I'm leaning towards:

Dejontool Intake pipe w/2G MAS adapter w/K&N filter (same setup I had previous)

Budget-but-effective FMIC kit: After searching, the VR-S kit seems to be a viable compromise of the two?

Turbo-wise, I was hoping to find a TD06 20G which would mesh well with my supporting mod setup and goals. Or a used FP Green?

Let me know what you think or if anything new or vital has come out in the past 5 years that Ive been away. Also, the car literally has been sitting in storage, untouched for 5 years.....what do I need to do preventative maintenance wise when I do get the parts to get it up and running? Fluids to drain, gaskets to change?

Thanks, sorry for the long post. Get at me.

Id personal change all of the fluids, check the brakes and fix/replace whats needed then just to be safe doing a timing belt job with pulleys and water pump. Might as well do a bse and get it over with. After all that is done then Id start looking for the parts the car needs to run. Could always find a 14b for cheap to throw on to get the car running again then look for the said turbo you want. Goodluck

My exhaust manifold is already setup with an HKS 40mm external wastegate, I dont have any of the stock IC piping & I'd prefer to just do this setup once so although I appreciate it I think Ill pass on running a 14B temporarily. I have a small toyota pickup Im driving right now so it isnt make or break to get this up and running asap. I just miss driving my car, nothing relaxes the soul like forced induction.

I would get the fluids/filters/belts/plugs changed out and then get a used, but in decent condition, 16G (Big/Small/or EVOIII) and the VRSF kit and do it up (of course get all the supporting mods to make it run proper)

Good to see someone get back in the game :)

Can't go wrong with a 20g, great all around turbo and has been proven for many years, it's what I run and will continue to run for a long time. Just start with basic maintenance and have fun:thumb:

I like how some people telling him to get a 16g or a 14b when he has already stated what he wants. Why would he go with a 16g or 14b if he wasn't satisfied with his 18g 5 years ago?

couldnt agree more with you!:hellyeah:

Pretty simple actually, with the number of different wheel and housing combos around now, you coukd easily make a 16g worth having. Plus 20g turbos generally have a bigger lag time then 14b or 16gs, all dependent on what you build it with.

Point being its all user preference. He asked for peoples opinions, and they are giving them.

Agree with you that you can make a 16g worth having but having a 20g wouldn't hurt him cause he has a gst the added lag will help him with wheel spin

I think it was because he stated he wanted to make it a daily driver. Smaller frame turbos are better suited for street use, since they spool quicker... and they can make pretty decent power.

I love the evo316g that is on my car. It's a great street turbo, and when tuned correctly, can make some good power numbers. I can drive the car anywhere comfortably, too. So it's a good "double-duty" turbo, so to speak. Plus, like mentioned above, they can be modified, when the times comes. I was actually looking into a 20g or modding the 16g I have now, and have been talking to Justin about that... so there are options out there for both turbos.

Man I know how you feel had to put building my car on the back burner when family issues came up but be glad you still have your project it could be worse:thumb:
