Hey all. I've been mulling over the idea.. I've spent a stupid amount of money to get a decent palm that's extremely outdated, find a new battery for it, get a serial adapter, etc. etc.

I was thinking of porting MMCd to Android and then creating a bridge via Bluetooth from the OBD port of the car. Obviously this would be with first gens in mind, but I could likely expand it to include second gens at a later date (and when I have access to a second gen for testing). Let me know what you think, and if you would like to be added to an update list, send me a PM with your email (or post it here). Thanks!

I have the android 2.2 tablet already with ecmlink on it and i use it to program my car on the fly....i use a keyspan hi speed usb adaptor for the plug since i am still on ecm tuning 2.5 and not 3, and i have the usb hub adaptor port for the android, when i made a ghost copy of the ecm disk i was able to place it on a usb hard drive and upload it to my android tablet....on the fly on the go, !!!

7 inch tablet works well for me
now if you do this idea of bluetooth im already set up with my 2 g, keep me posted id be interested in making mine wireless !!!

I contacted ecmlink months ago. They said they were working on the android app.But with todays phones I don't see how the 50mb software would not work on our phones. The tablet is a great idea tho.

You do realize that newer phones just released come with up to 32gb built in memory, and all of them have SD card slots capable of holding an additional 32gb of memory? On top of the fact that they have dual core processors, and over a gig of ram?

I paid $700 for my laptop when I got out of boot camp 2 years ago..it was top of the line at the time. My phone now has more computing power than my laptop...:ohdamn:

Technology's expansion rate is ridiculous.

nothing is without flaws but if i get this to work well with the upgraded apple tablet would anyone like to know?? and i recently found the plug that uses bluetooth to read codes on the ecm, perhaps you can use the same technology, remember you only have to change ONE THING about what is currently used to create a whole new patent :)

you didnt hear that from me :) but it is true

I love the idea, but I like the palm 3 for the price. The app is free, but the bluetooth adapter is $75 plus shipping. I picked up a palm 3 for 15 bucks and had a Scanmaster 3 already installed. If you can come up with a way to go through the serial that the Scanmaster supports, I would be more interested. My biggest complaint with the Palm is the AA batteries. They die, you gotta re-sync MMCd to the device.

I tried using a keyspan adapter with a null modem, and a usb cable from the keyspan to my EVO phone. Would not work. The keyspan unit uses a power supply from the laptop to power the actual serial to usb convertor. My palm keeps getting the fatal error every time I try to load mmsd....speed density version....so I actually bought the program back when it was 20.00. Kinda feel raped since it stated Bluetooth OR hard cable from the get go. I have sent him a couple of emails, but no reply as of yet. If you get that iPad working and functional, let me know. I would much rather use my EVO, less money if it gets stolen or fried. 75.00 is a lot of cash for a bt adapter. And then, since I'm running SD, is mmcd even going to work? Perhaps I should just get a Windows tablet and run jackal from it. Laptops are such a pain any more, considering all the new tech now available. Any thoughts on my dilemma? Just thinking out loud.

I tried downloading v3 last night twice. The first time I didn't know how to retreive it. The second time. I opened the file, kinda. It said it didn't work, cause it was a windows file or something.

Anyone know how to bypass that. And not unrooting the phone, or whatever that is?

This is kinda getting off-topic guys... .

Logging you car with DSM/Ecmlink or with anything else Via any means besides what the OP has made and there APP has nothing to do with this thread in reality... .

What? I just placed an order a few minutes ago!!!

No, it's based on the number of people signed up. 45 people are currently signed up, so it's at $46.18

Will it work with speed density? I'm running an ostrich chip emulator, aem 5 bar map sensor, gm iat sensor, and jackal speed density software. Oh yea, lc-1 wide band. I'm logging with my laptop thru jackal now with a link cable hooked to a null modem and then to a keyspan serial to USB converter.

Just signed up, been following this thread since 2010 day one, and I just got a Samsung galaxy nexus last week :)
