Hey all. I've been mulling over the idea.. I've spent a stupid amount of money to get a decent palm that's extremely outdated, find a new battery for it, get a serial adapter, etc. etc.

I was thinking of porting MMCd to Android and then creating a bridge via Bluetooth from the OBD port of the car. Obviously this would be with first gens in mind, but I could likely expand it to include second gens at a later date (and when I have access to a second gen for testing). Let me know what you think, and if you would like to be added to an update list, send me a PM with your email (or post it here). Thanks!

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused on what you are proposing here. Here's what needs to happen though. Someone needs to create an adapter if there is not one yet for the elm327 so that it works with obd 1 dsm's. Then someone needs to create an app that reads it for android. Or "torque" needs to integrate obd 1 into their current obd 2 app for android. This would be wildly successful, but most likely a long shot.

what do you gents think?

got this app a long time ago, Dynomaster for Android, add the dsm gauges I requested for free
Only for those who want an app like dynolicios for android. It's not a real data logger

Dynomaster has been proven to be 97% accurate using bluetooth gpu, for me it predicted my correct 0-60 and 1/4 mile, it also accuratly predicted my horse power.

This is *not* dead. I've run into a huge lack of time lately, though I leave for the military in about two months so I will be resigning from my jobs in order to focus on my family and have a little free time before I have to leave, and this project is one of those things. Stay tuned. Also, not sure what's up with the bluetooth hardware producer, but I've been developing one that will use the USB cable and is compatible with *all* android devices.

I've been interested for some time now. Cant believe with everything out there nobody has done this yet.....????

I've deffinetly been lurking around this project for sometime now, and can't wait for this to work.

Would getting a 'known' working serial cable, then a serial to usb adapter, then a "male to female" usb two-way adapter, then hooking in your droid cable, or a USB/Bluetooth adapter work? Not sure if that would cause too much signal loss, or what.

Just a thought, I'm broke and busted, or I would try it for myself. Just "chomping at the bit...." :)

Well, the way it's going now, it's going to be a USB cable. The bluetooth hardware exists, and works (as I've demonstrated), but because I'm not the one that made it I have no control over that. I've successfully gotten my USB adapter to communicate over serial with the ECU, however, and just need to iron the bugs out and make a mass order for production.

Any chance youll have a demo version to test out? I never got a chance to test out the ui when it was still in development as my old phone wasnt able to uprade to froyo......

What's your email? I may be able to find one somewhere on my hard drive. It's changed a bit since then though :p

So this post has been going on forever so I just want to find out what's going on. I have the LG G2X. Brand New Phone. I see the ap is $20 bucks. Not a big deal. Has the Bluetooth Adapter been made for this product? If so, how much is it and where can you get it at? I would really like to get this app since I don't have a data logger. Please!!! Some info and feedback would be great!!!!

STATE OF THE PROJECT ADDRESS

*****UPDATED 01/11/2012*****

So I'm sure a lot of the fervor and anticipation has long since died, and perhaps some people were still holding on with a thread of hope. I've been silent for a long time, there have been no updates, etc. So, I've decided to relay to you what's been going on.

I began working on a hardwired transmitter, which is still in the mix, but on the backburner. The guy who was working on the bluetooth adapters - rather, my contact - somewhat fell off the face of the earth. I wasn't sure what happened, so I emailed him a about a week ago. I'm not sure how much detail I should disclose, so I'll just say that one of the guys that was working with him is unable to do it now and he lost all interest in it.

SO WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US?

As of last night (and after much deliberation for the last week) I purchased the rights/unassembled hardware/programming for the bluetooth adapter. I've also modified it and made it about 1/3 as big by using surface mount components. So, it's back on. I've got four days off a week (for now anyways) in which I can work on the project. Expect to get an email soon if you're one of the first ones on the waiting list for the adapter, and even sooner if you've already downloaded the program.
