Gauging Interest: MMCd for Android

Hey all. I've been mulling over the idea.. I've spent a stupid amount of money to get a decent palm that's extremely outdated, find a new battery for it, get a serial adapter, etc. etc.

I was thinking of porting MMCd to Android and then creating a bridge via Bluetooth from the OBD port of the car. Obviously this would be with first gens in mind, but I could likely expand it to include second gens at a later date (and when I have access to a second gen for testing). Today I finished re-designing the PCB. I've shrunk it down to about 1/3 the size of the model that I have. I sent the files off to be prototyped, and should have my copies in hand within a few weeks. After everything is confirmed working properly, I will do an initial run of 100 boards. I also have 13 of the first style coming very soon that will be shipped out to the first few people (after they pay for the board, of course).

So in short... prototypes coming.. 13 people get it before everyone else.. then ONE HUNDRED boards to be made. And here's a mockup of the board.

Ever since getting my new Droid bionic the other day I have been wondering about this I would definitely buy this I feel it could be much more user friendly then the palm especially if electronic boost control was somehow added

I am currently in the process of revising and testing the new version as it has a few bugs - but the only difference in the two is the size of the unit.

The third image shows a request-reply on the oscilliscope - the left waveform is a request for voltage, and the right waveform is the reply of 11.98v from the ECU. Also shows a comparison of the old boards (green) to my new design (purple). Haven't even began to test the new ones yet though...

How can I make my ALDL serial cable work with this? His site only list the blue tooth adapter for sale. I'd be interested in buying a serial adapter if there is one available.

The app is all over Bluetooth... . I can't comment on whether he will add any other way to connect doubt it(more so now that the APP appears to be free). But I don't see it working now in any other way...


EDIT: Haven't updated the app in a awhile there is now a "hard cable" option so you may be able to... . There also was still a bug as of a couple weeks ago in the app FYI and you have to use the "Persistence mode" to get it to work properly from my understanding... .

I asked. Him on his Facebook and he said he had a cable in the making but it died out.

And Budgsx make sure you go to the settings and have the BT option selected or it wont even let you get passed the first screen.

out of curiosity couldn't a 1g user use a dsm link cable and get this adapter or whichever their phone uses and hook a hard cable up that way?

I have the android 2.2 tablet already with ecmlink on it and i use it to program my car on the fly....i use a keyspan hi speed usb adaptor for the plug since i am still on ecm tuning 2.5 and not 3, and i have the usb hub adaptor port for the android, when i made a ghost copy of the ecm disk i was able to place it on a usb hard drive and upload it to my android tablet....on the fly on the go, !!!

7 inch tablet works well for me
now if you do this idea of bluetooth im already set up with my 2 g, keep me posted id be interested in making mine wireless !!!
