Last night I went out for a cruise with a friend and right when I turned my lights on my oil pressure gauge read past 100 psi turned them off and the gauge was fine did the same thing still the gauge peged. The power is coming off the fog light switch ground is coming from the turbo timer tried another neg that didnt work tried another + didnt work I know its the + though. I have had it this way for 4 months now what could be the problem here it only does it when I turn on the lights.

Thanks Aj The gauge is autometer and the power for the boost gauge comes off the same line as does the neg.

how many wires come off the back of the gauge? is it mechanical or electric? if its electric it should be atleast 3 wires one for ground one for power and the other for oil pressure signal. if you cut the lights on and the gauges pegs out then that means you have the wiring wrong. if its mechanical then it has the power and ground wires (to illuminate the gauge) and a line that goes to the engine to get oil pressure reading from. did you install it yourself?

yes I installed it myself I did it right. It has worked fine with the lights on for 4 months so its nothing wrong with the install and I havent touched it at all since then. Its a electric unit gauge reads fine and works fine in the day but if I have to turn on my headlights it pegs.

Fixed it if this makes since I put to pos wire to the neg feed and the neg to the pos lead and now ever thing is fine WTF So I have no idea but its working.
