I make about 150-180 miles on a full tank how can I improve that or is that average you guys tell me

3 Questions
1.) What mods do you have?
2.) Is your BOV Reciculated, or is it factory?
3.) How do you drive?

1.) The wrong mods can cause crappy mileage
2.) The 2g BOVs occasionally leak and cause rich condition, and if you vent to atmosphere, you will be running pig rich
3.) Going into boost constantly drinks fuel like there is no tomorrow. If you drive out of boost, you'll watch your mileage sail upward.

Yep, if your in Boost all the time that will give you that type of mileage. I hardly hit boost anymore one a day to day... only uphills and if I see 5 pounds its rare. But even still now as soon as I play around a little bit when i do something new I am quickly remembered how fast fuel goes! Worth the gas though when you first get your car... I still remember my first week in my little car, went through 2 tanks I think!!!!:D

I have no mod n I tried one week staying under 3k rpm n it still stood between 150 n 180

Hows the maintenance on the car? Done a full tune up recently? o2 sensor? Even with all that its hard for me to believe that your mileage is that bad...:hmm: What type of gas are you using?

I havent done a tune up I'm new to the car business so I dont know what a complete tune up is or what to tune up or even a trustworthy shop because I'm in the Bronx, NY n the gas is 93 octane BP

Something I think you need to understand is fuel consumption is not RPM dependent, but load dependent.

I'll give you an example. You drive 100 miles on three roads, staying at 3000rpm

Road 1 is down hill
Road 2 is dead level
Road 3 is up hill

Road 1 would have the highest, and 3 would have the lowest, simply because the car has to work to pull you up the hill.

Same thing with the way you accelerate. If you dump it and floor it up to 3k before you shift, you'll go through the gas quick, but if you are gentle, it will be easier on your motor, and thus your fuel mileage. If you're driving like a madman every where, even if you never get above 45 mph, you can empty your tank just as easily as quickly as going 80 down the freeway. Just ask some of the auto cross drivers here how much gas they use for a race.

So driving habits have the greatest effect on your fuel mileage.

Another thing is your tires. Are they properly inflated? A single tire that's under inflated can easily take a chunk of your fuel mileage, simply because some of the energy is used to fight against tire flex than just pushing the car along. Imagine how much work it would take your car to drive a long with a flat tire. (An extreme example, but it gets the point across.)

And another thing that can effect your car is Weight. If you weighed 700 lbs, your buddy weighed 500, and you decide to bring your weight set every where, you can bet your MPG would be through the floor. (As would everything else when you hit a speed bump. XD)

If you don't clean it out and keep the weight down, you might notice your car has to work harder to haul around extra weight.

A 3rd thing is Maintenance. How's the oil? the fuel filter, or even the air filter? If the Oil is old, it takes power away from the engine, which in turn eats up mpg, and if the fuel or air filter is clogged, you might not be getting enough and the car is over compensating for the air or fuel.

Another thing might be a hidden fuel leak, a busted injector staying open too long, or your spark plugs being worn out and not burning fuel efficiently.

Do some maintenance, lighten it up, and check your brakes and bearings for wear and such.

Of course, I'm just an Aircraft mechanic, what do I know?

It might be that you're putting only 8 gallons in. Do you fill it up all the way? or do you wait til the idiot light comes on? Or do you wait til it hits the 1/4 mark?

Cause I regurly put 10 gallons in my car/ and mine is AWD.

150/8= 18.75 (About what I get when I boost a lot)

180/8= 22.5 (About what I get with normal driving where I'm from.)

According to Vfaq.com

1000 AAQ - DSM factory specifications

2Gs have a 17 gal fuel tank. The pump usually shuts off at 12.5 gallons, so you've got at least another 4 gallons left in your car if you're only putting 8 in.

Just filled up with mine the other day and I put in 14 gallons (one full fill up and a partial) and drove bout 240 i thinkg and averaged bout 17.5 mpgs. And I am in boost ALOT. Trying to watch it go up but the right pedal is AWESOME! :hellyeah:

on stock turbo n 14psi with boost controll i usually see 270-300range on full tank seam to be about 20-21mpg goin off 16gal tank i belive what it is

Stock turbo at 14 psi and stock injectors i get at least 350 miles to a tank (city driving) even without driving conservatively.

This thread, started by you in fact, has your tune-up answer.

Classic.

I completely forgot about that thread thanks alot

You posted that thread yesterday (same day you posted this thread actually) and "completely forgot" about it.

I do a lot of interstate driving. My gas mileage is 27mpg using cruise, ac and running around 75 mph. Stock 6 bolt AWD.

Instead of trying to figure out how far you go to a tank, fill the car up, set your trip odometer to zero. Next time you fill up, just look at how many gallons it took to fill the tank and divide by the miles you drove. To get a real accurate reading, keep track for several tanks.

I just empty a tank of gas but no light to refill tank and I only did 130 miles to a full tank

Then you're not using your full tank. Most here go by the idiot light cause it comes on extremely early. The fuel gauges in these cars are notoriously inaccurate. You probably have a lot more left than you think.

Try this. When you fill up next time, Zero out your odometer. Wait until your fuel light comes on once, and then fill up. Print the receipt and write down your miles.

You'll get a good average of your milage. It also depends on your driving like in my above post.

TL;DR, Drive easy, maintenance, and repairs.

Mileage is measured in miles/gal. Miles/tank is meaningless as it depends on the calibration of the gas guage and the steely nerve of the driver to go untill the tank is really empty.

My Talon gets 27 MPG off boost at 75-80 MPH on the interstat and about 19 MPG in mixed driving with regular boost.

My gas mileage is retarded bad.
In my 6 cyl I can get easily 28/gal in the city the way I drive (accelerate like a grandma, shift before 2k, cruise in 5th everywhere)
In my talon I get between 18 and 20......wtf. Drive the exact same, only time I ever see boost is when I have to go up airport road home from school, but never enough to eat that much gas. No mods really, boost controller but since I never boost it doesn't even have to work :)
