Ok Im assuming my eclipse has a 12 gallon tank. Im getting roughly 100 to 150 miles per tank. O2 is new so i kniow its not that. I did remove the fpr sonenoid but still have the stock fpr. Would that be causing my bad mpg's? On my 1g before i tore it apart to do the 6 bolt swap i was getting 22 mpg with 650cc and 20 lbs of boost. Im only running 9 lbs and stock injectors so i should be getting twice what im getting, which is roughly 10 to 13 mpg.

Now if that is my case if I were to put my 650's back in and the afpr would that fix my issue with my mpg? Do I need the fpr solenoid to be there? I though it was fine to remove it.

Just because the o2 is new I wouldn't count it out, defective items are out there. I guess your FPR could be over-ran, but without some way of knowing your o2 trims its really hard to pin it on one thing. Best you're probably gonna get will still just be a shot in the dark. Check for fouled spark plugs, see if your exhaust smells like straight gas, you're obviously running extremely rich, and there is definitely something wrong.

The o2 is curculating properly from what i can tell so i dout it is that. before i replaced the o2 i was only getting like 65 miles on a full tank. so its improved but not to where it should be. i have a boost leak at the tb i cant seem to get rid of. though its been to cold to properly fix it. i also have 2 exhaust studs missing. but i dont think a boost leak and a exhaust leak can cause that bad of milage

Vacuum leaks will give you shitty mileage, probably even more so on a boosted car.

An exhaust leak upstream from the o2 would throw off the reading. Coupled with a boost leak that could cause pretty bad gas mileage. Fix those and see where you stand.

see thats what i thought. but when i fill up from a quarter tank it takes 8 gallons to fill it. maybe my gauge is messed up and im getting faulse reading.

I had a pesky boost leak at my throttle body that I couldnt get rid of as well, RTV works great. Definitely check for fouled plugs, or that the plug wire is even seated securely. Ive had that happen and have horrible fuel milage.

EDIT: Try filling your tank up, reset you trip odometer and run it until the light comes on. Then you'll know how far on a tank you can go.

Do you have any sort of logger or even a w/b o2 sensor? those two items right there might help solve your problem in a hurry. also is there any chance you could have accidentally damaged the o2 sensor while installing it. You know like accidentally fraying a cord or something?

EDIT: crash our low fuel lights usually light at around 5 gallons remaining. it's why so many people on this forum believed the tanks to be only 12 gallons

I have link. i do have a wb but its not installed. i thought the low fuel light came on with 2.5 gallons left

Repalce the Coolant temp sensor. When that goes south so does gas mileage

I had the maf unplugged and didn't know it and it affected gas a bunch. So check that. Check the float and gauge as well. Do you have any CEL?

My all bone stock gsx gets 21mpg mostly city plus acationaly stomping on it.
My untuned 16g gsx i gets 18mpg average.


I think once we all put bovs on are cars we stomp on it more often to hear it
thats what probably lowers our mpg

The manual said auto 1g's get around 18.With a shift box I went up over 20.

Soloution:

Sell your expensive ass turbo dsm, and buy a 420a car instead. its way cheaper than the turbo to n/t swap, and you will have extra kaching$$$ left over from the sale!!!

We've had some trouble in the past with owners of factory non-turbocharged DSMs coming into these forums and advising Turbo DSM owners to sell their cars and buy a non-turbocharged car. That is not to happen anymore.

The fuel filter can cause it. I have a new one im not using. But I dont think the filter can cause that much of a drop.

DSM's are heavy cars, esp the 2G, weighing in close to 3000LBS.

1G's were lighter - around 2600 lbs - why you got the mileage difference right there... (ask someone with a 2G and the same, or close setup you got and see how their mileage is....)

That's quite the bit of iron and steel for a 4cyl to move around..the 2G AWD chassis ... it's pretty hefty!

Tires up to pressure, or are they soft? If soft, get them tight up to recommended pressure.

I'm bone stock and being nice on the throttle around town, I just barely muster 21mpg where on the freeway, I can easily hit 28mpg with cruise on.

Stop and go, town driving with the "heavy foot" syndrome is murder.' Also, you're in "cold country" WIN, and mileage on any car really suffers during the winter since you're using 'winter gas'.

Wait until when the weather warms up and then report back to us on the mileage condition.

I have owned several 2g eclipses. my last 2g wasmodded and i got alot better milage. all my 2g got rouhly 21 mpg. my tire pressure is good

You might have to put back in the 650's if you're modded since the stock 450's aren't balanced with your system and the ECU is pushing more fuel from the signals coming from the o2 sensor calling for more fuel to get things back into a closed loop situation.

Even though the temp sensor been replaced, how's the t-stat ... working okey or stuck open? Stuck open t-stats will raise havoc with the temp sensor since the sensor will also tell the ECU to shove in more fuel to get the block up to operating temps...and into the closed loop.
