like the title says, my gas gauge goes down to a little over 1/4 and just sits there, I knew it looked a little fishy then the gas light came on....is the sensor broke or the meter itself?

Have u messed with fuel pump at all or what? If u have maybe u didnt put it back in properly. It probably something with your sending unit.

mine does the same thing, "i think" what it is, when who ever had the car befor hand, had the one gastank recall, they did't put it in right, Im waiting untill i get my new fuel pump to fix mine, less head ack then. but yeah, sounds like its off a tad on the line up marks and the sending unit is hitting the side of the tank....

where it connects under the back cardboard? My locking connector was broke so it had slipped just enough off so my gas guage would read about 1/8 and not drop to the E. Check the connection also (if it's similar to the 1g). :thumb:

hmmm, i will check that out, its under my rear seats, well i will check it out once this weather stops

I have this exact same problem. Yes my tank reading was fine, until I took it into the dealer for the recall. I have since went back 3 times to fix this and the problem was never resolved. I will be taking it to another dealer this Friday so I will let you know how it goes.

The dealer replaced the fuel level sending unit, and this did not help anything. I found out that there is 2 sending units for this on 2g's, a main sending unit and a sub sending unit. There is one on the drivers side and one on the passenger side. The main sending unit on the passenger side was replaced.

The gauge does not get not stuck at a quarter tank, the because when the main fuel level sending unit is unplugged, the gauge will fall to E.

On a 2G AWD, there two senders one on each side of the tank. At the empty position the main sender should read about 57 ohms and the sub sender about 50 ohms. At full position both should read about 2 ohms.

I have never had the time to test results of the sender with my meter yet. I will let you know how it goes when I do.

cool, thanks will defently be waiting for thouse.. i hope its an easy fix that would rock. thanks and good luck!!!:thumb:

it could have been that as the problem, the person before me said the lady before him had all the recalls taken care of, or he could have messed with the fuel pump if thats what the problem is, ill check it out.

Ok guys I fixed the problem. The problem is that the float on the passenger side of the fuel tank (the secondary float near the fuel pump) will only go down so far before it gets stuck on a piece of plastic inside of the fuel tank. This float is used to measure the height of the gas in the fuel tank. There is 2 of these on 2G's. I found that the drivers side fuel level sending unit has no plastic inside of the fuel tank, has no plastic near it to ever block the float from going down. So the fix only needs to be done to the passenger side.

Now for the fix. All you have to do is disconnect the fuel line under the fuel tank.

Then disconnect the fuel lines on top along with the electrical connections like this

After that is completed, remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank. Although you do not have to remove it completely. Put the fuel pump assembly back making sure that the main fuel line is a 8:00 from the view from the passenger seat. Looking like this:

Put the fuel lines and electrical connections back and you should be good. On another note make sure this repair is done when you have the gas light on or at least less than a quarter tank of gas. This will keep you from spilling gas everywhere and will also let you know if your gas gauge fix actually works.

Its not a hard fix at all. You can probably do it in 30 minutes. If you just loosened the cap and turned the fuel pump assembly you may be able to fix this, but you risk the chance of bending the arm for the float. That is why I posted a how-to.

nice, thanks alot, will check it out tomorow when i fix my apexi install, lost a nut in the drive way of a friends house, so i got them today, so will do that, and when its up, should just check it any ways, i think my light is on now so, kill two birds with one stone, thanks again, will post pics!!:talon: :thumb:

These marks must be hard to find because the dealership that did the recall did not use them and it says nothing about them in the vfaq. Can you possibly post a picture of these?

Can't post a pic... don't have a digital camera (other than my phone which is low res). They are four dots... two on the sender, and two on the fuel tank. They should be located in the upper left, if you were looking at the sender from the passenger seat looking towards the back of the car. I think they're all on embossed, but maybe one set was painted, I forget.

Well, they were there on my two 95 talons, and are on my 99, so I'd suspect they're on all years.
